"Silver Fox" or "Stud Muffin"? Who'd you choose, {{contact.first_name}}?

A handsome man "of a certain age" is often referred to as a Silver Fox in romance novels. What do you think—does this man qualify as a Silver Fox?

Hello !

So, it appears calling women over 30 "a woman of a certain age" struck a chord since so many of you wrote back with your own stories. Thank you for the fabulous afternoon I spent in your worlds!

Last week, I mentioned my author friend Jeanine and how she was the first to tell me about 'seasoned romance' as a sub-genre. I asked why she chose to write about older couples when books with naked-chested men seem to dominate the virtual bookshelves. Here's what she said:

"People over 50 are amazing! They have a whole lot of life experience and still have tons to offer the world. Most people over 50 I know are starting businesses or new careers, learning a new skill, and volunteering their expertise.

And many are starting over in their private lives, too. And why not? You’re never too old for love!"

Here's the first of three books in Jeanine's Sunshine Bay series. Something I find especially amusing about this book is that Jeanine sells more large print paperback copies than any other format! Sadly, proving the point of that twenty-something eye doctor who called my eyes old at forty!

Love’s Fresh Start is about Sylvia, a sixty-year-old widow, who is trying to find a purpose after her husband’s death. While out in the local park, she spots a feral cat and decides to befriend it.

Jack, divorced after decades of marriage, sees her with the cat and stops to talk. They build a tentative friendship but could this be more? Or are they destined to be alone?

If you like stories about friendship, love, and second chances in the second half of life, this novella may be for you!

If you, like me, have an e-ereader with adjustable front size, you can get Love's Fresh Start for just $0.99 from most online bookstores. It was a 16-point font, 5-star read for me!

From a Silver Fox to a Bronze Adonis (or six)

One of the best ways indie authors like myself have to get introduced to new readers is by sharing each other's books with our readers. I haven't read any of these stories*, but they all get good reviews on Goodreads. If a cover appeals to you, please have a look to see if the story is one that will bring you joy.

  • Okay, I have read one of them. And at least ten times as I edited it!

I'd love to know—

From a young, first love hero to an experienced, fox love hero, if you could choose the perfect age for the man who gets his happily-ever-after in the romance books you read, what age would that be?
