Last week I shared a story that I worried would prompt unkind reactions and guess what? I was so entirely wrong. I cannot tell you how full my heart is, knowing that a belief virtually every author—romance or not—fears is true, simply isn't. At least not with the beautiful souls who read my books.

Every single response was filled with compassion. Every. Single. One. And, the Romance for Reproductive Justice auction, which is what motivated me to share my very personal story, raised $46,350!

Frisky with my Bestie

If you're an artist of any kind—from needlework to song-writing to making shrunken apple-head dolls—do you ever feel nervous before you share something new?

I sure do!

Even though I've been a writer for my entire career, the words I write for clients are, for the most part, from my head, being an expert in creating financial literacy curriculum. There's no part of me or my personality in that work.

But my romance stories? Those are 100% from my heart. So, when I put a new story into the world, I always feel a little vulnerable for the first few days.

Now, having readers read a book in one sitting is amazing, but keep in mind that Frisky with my Bestie is a novella, so just 79 ebook pages—or 100 pages in large print paperback format! That said, it's still lovely to know that readers care about Morgan and Tamara and want to see them through to their happily ever after.

This story was in the Secret Santa charity anthology last December so you might already have a slightly different version on your e-reader, with the terrible title, The Magic of Mountain Air. (Fun fact: I can write 10,000 words more quickly than a good book title!)

For the last four years, I've been a writing coach and co-facilitator of a thriving online community for authors of all genres. I recently decided to create focused content just for romance authors.

I'm working on a variety of tools and blog posts, a course, a quiz, an accountability program... all the support an aspiring romance author would need to move from thinking about writing a happily ever after to publishing it.

It's a holiday weekend in the US and that means I won't be leaving my little village since the only road out of town is a tourist highway. On holiday weekends the trip to the grocery store, which on a weekday takes 15 minutes, will take at least 30 today, if not twice that long. Even being out of chocolate isn't worth sitting in that much traffic.

Be safe, especially if you're traveling.
