Not too much exciting ever happens around my house. And I'm good with that. Really, I am!

Given mine and Mr. Bloom's years as firefighters and first responders, a day without bells and whistles is considered a good day.

But today I had a fun and harmless—except to my ego!—kind of excitement. Amazon delivered my author copies of First In: A steamy, small-town firefighter romance.

And since it's what all the cool kids do these days, and I so-o want to be a cool kid, I did an unboxing. A totally unscripted unboxing. This, friends, is why I keep my creative output to the page and don't do improv.

Just click that picture and watch 1 minute and 11 seconds of me forgetting what we call an unboxing, not thinking to mention the name of the first book I published (Mother Teresa's Advice for Jilted Lovers), getting my cover designer's company name wrong (it's Mayhem Cover Creations), and then, to top it all off, cursing at my clumsiness before the camera's turned off.

Some mother's children should not be allowed scissors or technology.

Reading from First In on Sunday, Feb 14

On February 14th, I'll be reading from this very book! It will be an online, public event. Free, of course. I haven't decided if I'll adjust the camera to show my face, but I am having my hair cut next week, just in case I go wild and crazy and let you see me blush when I read a steamy scene!

As you can see from the unboxing, I have three copies of First In. One I'm keeping, of course. The second, I promised to the the widow of the former Deputy Chief of our fire department since she gave me her blessing to base a character on him. So that leaves one book up for grabs, which I'll gift to a person who comes to the reading.

I'm not sure if I'll do this event on Zoom or in Facebook, so I can't share a link yet. If the event is on Facebook, it will be a one-way thing which makes me sad, so I'm leaning to using Zoom so I can have a conversation with you after the reading. But I've been told that Zoom scares people away, and that would make me even sadder.

So, if you're interested in hearing me read a few chapters from this steamy firefighter romance, please tell me whether you have a preference for Zoom or Facebook as a meeting place. I'll reply and let you know the what's, when's and where's once I have the details sorted out.
