Steamy, small-town firefighters to snuggle up with tonight!

Hello !

This was a week to remember and to not repeat!

My mom has a favorite expression you may be familiar with. The fact that I think of it every time I find myself scrambling, stressing, and not sleeping, suggests I likely heard it a lot as a youth!

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

In the last five days I launched a brand new book which takes hours each day doing promotions, spent at least 50 hours editing a non-fiction book that's co-written with my two business partners, started a course that has daily homework, and created Facebook ads for a book that's free for you today... so I slept about fours a night... and poorly at that!

In my early twenties, when I was in university, I worked before classes started. I was a waitress, short order cook, dishwasher and cashier in a greasy spoon in the poorest neighborhood in Montreal. I lived two buildings away from the restaurant, which was lucky since my shift started at 6am.

I could roll out of bed and be at the door in fifteen seconds. I may not have looked great but neither did the clients who, more often than not, ordered beer with their bacon and eggs. (This is where I met my first husband!)

My shift ended at 11, giving me time to shower and dress for afternoon and evening classes. I was often at university until 9pm, either in class or tucked away in an editing studio. When I got too tired or hungry to work, I'd head to the pub near the university and grab their dinner special for $3.24! It included a glass of beer, but if I met friend, that glass would be refilled by the pitchers of beer we'd all buy...

A normal night I'd get home after midnight and have to be at work for 6am.

Point of this:

I used to function really well on five hours sleep. Now? Not so much! In fact, I suck with less than eight hours of shut-eye.

Poor planning, blah, blah, blah... but the upside? I am living my dream life as an author. Granted, an author who could use some project management and scheduling skills, but still!

And the only reason I get to live this life is because of you—and readers like you!

To thank you for your support, if you've not yet read the first book in The Mixed Pack series, it's free on Amazon for you this weekend—no matter where you live.

More free and $0.99 books from author pals

Why do authors sometimes give our books away for free or sell four books for just $0.99?

Because we hope that you'll give us a chance, love what we write and then buy something else from us. Think of these deals like the tiny bites of new products you get at Costco. Those free snacks are often yummy enough that you'll buy a whole package—in our case, the rest of the books in the series!

Keeping it short today since my Darling Husband has requested I help him paint exterior window frames on our house today. We're headed into the rainy season and looking at too much bare wood.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, get all the sleep your body needs and still have time to fall in love with a new hero in a romance book.
