Have you ever done an art commission?

Hey ,
Have you ever done an art commission for a family member or friend? Did it go well? Would you do it again?
Idk about you, but when I first started taking art commissions, I felt like an imposter demanding way too much money at a kiddy lemonade stand. And then when I actually started the commission, I realized I had WAY undercharged for my art. I ended up (a tad) bitter and didn't really enjoy the process at all.
Sometimes it was even worse when I didn't get paid right away, or didn't get paid the right amount. WHY was I even doing this in the first place?!
Art commissions are an interesting beast because they often force the artist to create outside of their passions and comfort zones. Add in the subject of money and the fact that (most likely) we’re working with friends or family and, well, we’ve got a nice recipe for some awkward feelings and unspoken conversations.
Over the years I’ve figured out some boundaries, tips, and processes that help mitigate a lot of these problems. I’ll show you how I make it all WAYYYYY less awkward using a simple process/flow that keep boundaries in place and ensures that you'll actually get paid.
You'll even hear from my most recent art client (above) on how the process felt like from his non-artist perspective.
This is a free series and two of three videos are up on YouTube now!
