I Owe You Gist o

But that's if you're even interested

I'm sure you have friends that you spend so much time on the phone with, . You could go on and on talking about everything that comes to your mind.

You and I may not have that level of rapport, but I can still "give you gist.

In the email I sent you before the last one I sent you (two mails ago, LOL), I mentioned that I would tell you more about the men's meeting I spoke at.

People think that men are quiet; they think men are silent and somber. I'm beginning to observe that men tend to talk more in environments that feel safe and non-threatened.

The men I spoke to were not loud, but they were expressive. It was so beautiful to see a room with men light up as each speaker spoke with wisdom and excellence.

Let me share one of the stories the really inspired me. Our host that event, Pastor Tokunbo of Capstone shared about how he he made a major move that changed his life many years ago. He had been pastoring for several years and as a man with multiple interests and competencies, he began to feel he needed there was something else he should learn. He asked a couple of people what the "in thing" was, and they told him "Information Technology"

He then started asking some of his church members how he could learn it. The first few individuals he asked, laughed, and said "Pastor, don't worry about that o... We are here for you... You don't need to learn anything about it...just let us know whatever you need. We ill do it for you"

He just didn't feel right about that. He insisted on learning and eventually, someone told him about ApTech - a leading Information Technology organization that offered training.

He enrolled at Aptech the age of 39 - and had to take classes with people who were 16 - 19 year olds. Imagine an established man - a thriving pastor having to learn in the same environment with teenagers. Ahhh! It was not the most palatable experience, but he stayed through and got his certification and eventually a degree.

Fast forward... he has since powered his ministry and businesses with the knowledge and exposure he gained through that experience. He has also empowered so many other people in ministry and business using the skills he acquired.

Guess what? All the people who told him not to worry about have since relocated from Nigeria.Chai...THIS LIFE!

Can you imagine that? After all their promises. SMH.

Can you imagine if he didn't take that step... if he didn't learn..if he didn't pay the price to develop himself and acquire the skills he needed for his next level?

He may have been stuck or limited. He may have had to spend so much money paying others. Worse still, he might have quit ministry from thr pressure of the work and life's demands.(He never suggested this though)

How does that affect you?

Are you growing?

What skills do you need to develop for the times we're in and the times ahead?

What opportunities are you sleeping on?

Are you joking with your gifts or are you taking them seriously?
