Are You the Next King I'm Investing In? by Damilola

We cried and cried, but...

Dear ,

Today is emotional for many reasons.

A year ago, Nigeria witnessed one of the most shocking and horrendous

events in our National history.

I remember standing on those grounds too. I was there a few days before the crackdown- lending my support to one of the most honourable causes young Nigerians had embarked on in decades. There was so much hope in the air. I had never seen anything of that sorts in all my years. Thousands of optimistic young people from different walks of life, religious backgrounds, economic status and ethnicities- all assembled to champion one cause.

There was music. There were chants. There were talks. There were prayers, but there was no violence... yet on October 20th, peaceful protesters were violated by armed men.

Such a shame. Such a heartbreaking experience. Sadly, no one has taken responsibility and no one has been brought to book.

So many lives lost, so many wounded and so many hearts broken. So many tears shed and so many minds marked by the wounds and assault.

We've cried and cried- some of us with actual tears and others, in our hearts- crying for peace, justice and prosperity, but...

We must not give up.

We must keep hope alive.

We must remain optimistic.

We must keep the vision of better days.

We must build intentionally.

We must be wiser with our choices.

We must vote intelligently while pushing for true federalism, constitutional reform and an overhaul of the political system.

We must pray and lead lives that don't contradict the prayers we pray.

We must model the change we want to see in our homes, businesses and social circles.

We must resolve not to be the "monsters" who tried to crush us.

We must not be overcome by evil, rather, we must overcome evil with good.

A lot has been said and a lot more will be said. At the end of it all, good will prevail over evil, truth will prevail over falsehood and justice will prevail over wickedness.

We press on... wiser, stronger... better!

I'm sending you love and blessings especially today.
