YOU FIRST!

It is true that if you want to be effective as a parent, spouse, or friend, you must be a leader. I said this much in my last mail. However, the first person you must lead is you.

Your ability to lead yourself successfully is a prerequisite to leading others successfully.

You can't become a leader if you have not first led yourself.

You can become someone who gives people orders, someone who manages people, even someone who motivates people. However, when it comes to leadership, you must be your first follower.

You lead yourself when you set goals and pursue it.

You lead yourself when you create a to-do list and follow through.

You lead yourself when you apply yourself to the knowledge you have garnered.

"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way". - John Maxwell

You lead yourself by going the way.

If you're incapable of self-leadership, it's almost impossible for you to be led by anyone or to lead anyone.

Practice self-leadership by applying to yourself what I just shared.
