Yes, being independent doesn't mean you are no longer dependent. It actually means you are now dependent on yourself.
Now, what's there to celebrate about that?
I'll tell you, but don't think about the nation, think about yourself.
Being dependent on yourself means you need to have strength enough to carry your own weight, be resourceful enough to provide for your needs, be wise enough to make your own decisions, and be responsible enough to own those decisions and their consequences.
Being independent is about governing oneself.
Now, nobody celebrates the fact that they have a governor. People celebrate the fact that they have a governor that is governing rightly.
It's not enough that you are old enough to call your shots, the real deal is that you are mature enough to know what shots to call, when to call, and how to call them.
This is what we should really celebrate - the steps you take everyday at making yourself more dependable than you were yesterday.
