What I Wish I Knew About Careers and Financial Planning
This situation changed my life...
In 2012, I hit rock bottom and didn't know that it was an absolutely blessing disguised as hurt, pain and disillusionment. I was consoling my friend who was fired a few weeks before Christmas in 2012. I was genuinely hurting for her and feeling like my one true friend in the company was gone. Little did I know that a dismissal letter was waiting for me. So in the same day I and my office BFF was fired. I went home and looked at my family and realized that no one was even aware of the hurt that I was feeling. I was embarrassed to be fired. I was scared because I didn't have a plan. My job was my career. I didn't have a clue that a career is a totally seperate thing from a job. So I was feeling destroyed. Then I knew I was carrying so much debt from my second son's medical situation. And I felt like the world was on my shoulder. Because even though I worked (or had worked the day before) in the investment banking community, there was no planning for parents with special needs and I felt inadequate to support my baby. And then there was my network of people who just said, "Oh, you can get another job." There was no support of leveling up my life. So I was both sad and uncomfortable and in need of clarity. Then in February 2013, a miracle happened!!! I was introduced into television production. That opened the door to a new level of creativity for me. And as I stepped up my creativity, I was introduced to new coaches and new connections. I decided to invest in my learning. I decided to get expert advise on how to make money. I learned that EVERYTHING is an asset. And this learning formed the basis of my #12FinancialPowerTools.
