Dear ,
“When people went on vacation, they shed their home skins, thought they could be a new person.” – Aimee Friedman
We don’t know about you, but we’re trying to figure out how it’s possible that it is August already. Summer seems to be flying by in a haze of hot days, barbeques, walks on the beach and drippy ice cream cones.
If you’re looking to how to fit in some creativity this month- you’re in luck!
Workshop Wednesdays/Events:
- August 7 Workshop Wednesday- Action Scenes
- August 14 - Volunteer Opportunities for Surrey International Writers Conference with Stephanie
- August 21 - Open Q&A with Eileen
- August 28 - Bookstagrammers with Stephanie
We’re also excited for a special event this month, August 7th 5:30-6:30 PDT Jenny Graham Lang will be leading a panel discussion on audio books. If you’ve ever wondered how this works both from an indie and a traditional point of view be sure to add this to your schedule.
And of course there are the usual planned events: Motivation and Accountability Mastermind Groups, Book Marketing Meet-Up, Our 24/7 Sprint Room Genre Meet-up and Crafty Critique Club.
Have You Seen? (Things we’re talking about)
There are few things we like better than a good salad in the summer. Eileen’s been raising tomatoes and basil on her patio garden so she’s been eating caprese salad on repeat. Do you have a favourite? If not, check out this book to get some ideas. https://www.amazon.ca/Salad-Freak-Recipes-Healthy-Obsession/dp/141975839X/
News You Can Use:
Did you know that the Canadian Council for the Arts has changed how they review grants? Instead of set dates they are taking applications on a rolling basis. https://canadacouncil.ca/ And if you live outside of Canada, be sure to check the grant options in your own country.
