Canadian Thanksgiving falls in the month of October. Regardless if you celebrate this month, or some other time, it’s good to pause for a moment of gratitude. There’s a lot of research that points to the positives of being grateful. In any type of creative work we tend to have our eyes on the next achievement. Hitting a higher word count, finishing a project, finding an agent, hitting publish on an indie project, or increasing sales. You know we support goal setting- but don’t forget to pause and realize just how far you’ve come.

A creative life is a lifelong journey. There will always be new goalposts. Take a moment today and be grateful. For the gift you have that makes you imaginative. For the friends you have on this creative adventure. And for how much progress you’ve already made. Drop us a note in the Ask Us Anything section of the forums to share what you’re grateful for this month.

Feel Like A Party?

We will be hosting a cocktail party at the Surrey International Writers’ Conference on Saturday October 21st from 8-11pm. Location is: Sheraton Guildford Hotel 15269 104 Avenue Surrey BC (room to be announced). All members are welcome (Even if you’re not attending the conference!) Come and mingle with fellow members and conference attendees and speakers. Raise a glass to your achievements this past year.
