Ready to take charge of your writing? 

May 4th is "may the fourth be with you” Star Wars day and as official nerd types we plan to celebrate. Regardless if you know the difference between an ewok and a wookie, you’re likely at least somewhat familiar with the Star Wars universe. George Lucas tapped into a classic hero’s journey story that resonated with millions around the world. Why not use this month to tap into your own story power and Jedi yourself some words on the page. As Yoda says, Do, or do not, there is no try.

So much to celebrate this past month. Hopefully you were able to make the book launch event. And if not, fear not, we’ll be hosting another one in July to celebrate the fresh new crop of books coming out! But that isn’t all the good news around here. 

• Super excited to hear Brenda Murphy’s book Music From Stone is a finalist for the GCLS Goldie 
• Janee Transler was called out by Children’s Book Academy as an example of how to do writing/illustrating of graphic novels right! New career goal for her to be mentioned this way
• Lena Gibson’s book The Wish is a finalist in the 2023 Maxy Awards for Romance and Women’s Fiction
• Mary Early is starting a new blog called It Takes a Community- good luck with your new project

Remember, writing is a long (and at times really challenging) journey- so be sure to celebrate all the milestones.
