Now, let's talk about blogs.
Here are the downsides to consistently writing for your blog.
- You waste your time if you don't do it consistently, meaning at least weekly.
- You can't just "write." You also have to search for a good long-tail keyword to use in your blog post, which means you have to group your blog posts around a few key topics.
- You have to use graphics to help reader interest, meaning either a still graphic or a video. At least one.
- You have to keep a list of ideas to write about that are on your particular topic for your business.
- You have to publish the blog but that's not all - you have to share it consistently over time, and syndicate it out on social media, through your emails, and wherever else you can.
Here are the upsides to consistently writing for your blog.
- You establish social proof and credibility over time.
- You prove to potential customers that you are consistent and long-lasting.
- You help build your know/like/trust factor (which is what you have to have before people will buy from you).
- You can bundle your blogs into giveaways or e-books when you have enough material.
- You can easily use snippets from your blog posts to come up with social media posts, talks for FB or IG live, and podcasts.
- You can create backlinks in your blog posts to other posts you have written as well as to outside links, helping to build credibility, reach, and traffic to your blog.
- If you are consistent and strategic you can, over time, create quite a healthy income from blogging about a particular theme or topic.
I know many business owners who "don't have time for a blog." Yet they will spend hours of time every day posting things on social media. It's a much better strategy to spend LESS time on social media and create a blog, then use that content to share on social media. Make sense?
