When is it best to buy plane tickets?
The latest study by the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) shows when the best times are to buy airline tickets (if you plan to travel right now).
- U.S. travelers who booked flights on Sunday saved on both domestic and international airfares.
- Additional savings were gained by departing on a Friday for domestic trips, or on a Thursday for international trips. (Fares are typically lower on Thursdays.)
Flexibility has become a top priority, with most travelers purchasing flights just 29 days out. This is the first time in years that the average advance purchase window has dropped below the 30-day mark.
New short train trip with Rocky Mountaineer
I love train trips through the mountain! Rocky Mountaineer notified me that they are offering a new quick 2 night trip from Denver to Moab, Utah with an overnight stop in one of my favorite Colorado small towns, Glenwood Springs.
When? Starting in mid-August 2021 until October 23, 2021 and then running in 2022 during their normal season. I like this because it's not in the near future, giving covid time to quieten down.
Cost? This is such a new development that the pricing isn't even on their travel advisor website yet, but I'm attending a meeting this week to get all the details. If you love train trips and think this would be fun just hit reply and let me know, I'll send you the details when I have them. Might be something to look forward to next year.
What outdoorsy travel destinations are expected to be popular in 2021?
Travelers itching to start traveling again are seeking out more remote destinations and smaller groups of families or friends to travel with. Here are some trending destinations for 2021, all outdoorsy types of travel.
Katmai National Park, Alaska
Dominica (in the Caribbean)
Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina
The mountains in the Svaneti Region of Georgia's Caucasus region.
We've thought about Dominica ourselves, and 2021 might be the year. It has been recuperating from extensive hurricane damage for the last few years.
As I said in my last email to you be extra cautious if you do plan to travel. Give me a call (941-720-1842) and let me help you figure things out.
Happy Thanksgiving!
