Word of mouth is powerful magic.
As just one example: When I released a trilogy a few years ago, I didn't have a big advertising budget or reader base. The books ended up reaching so many more people than I'd expected because the readers who found them told other readers about them.
Every single person who did that helped me keep writing.
Magic.
So don't ever underestimate your own power. You won't always hear about the ripple effects, but they're definitely rippling.
Many, many thanks to all of you who've grabbed my new romantasy Into the Bargain in the last month. You've already had an impact. Go you!
If you'd like to help more people find a novella that's part fairy tale, part fight-the-wizard-patriarchy, here are some totally free options that extend your ripple effect:
- Review on sites where it's sold. Short or long, every review shows readers and retailers that people are engaging with a book and (hopefully) having a good time. That's especially helpful for new books. (Thank you so much to everyone who's done that already, you rock!)
- Share your thoughts in some other place. Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Goodreads, Reddit ... wherever you like to talk about books, if that's your thing.
- Tell a friend who'd enjoy it. Some of my favorite reads came from friends' recommendations.
- Can't afford books right now? Check with your library. It's easy to ask your library to consider offering a book through Libby, if it doesn't already have it. Here's how. (One of the reasons Into the Bargain isn't in Kindle Unlimited is because that cuts out libraries, and libraries are the best.)
Meanwhile: Remember that Into the Bargain fairy tale quest I mentioned? There's still a few days left to enter for the grand prize, a cool Cinderella brooch.
I'd be really happy if you won.
So don't forget. β¬οΈ
