Ever been to a book convention?
Before this year, my answer was no. (Well, if you don't count being sneaked into one for half an hour for the sole purpose of meeting a friend for dinner, which I don't.)
I'd never been to any sort of con. I may be a bit of an introvert, if by "introvert" you mean person who requires an extremely strong argument for leaving the house.
But two of my fantasy-romance author friends were in town for ApollyCon. So I actually left the house and went to an actual convention a little over a week ago.
I've just about recovered. π
Seriously, I've never been in a place with so many intensely book-loving people before. I spent most of that Saturday sitting with Vela Roth (of Blood Grace fame), enjoying all the bookishness, giving her a hand and doing an occasional surprise book signing when readers stopped by with an anthology we're both in.
Around the time I signed the first book, it occurred to me: Oops, I should have mentioned in my last email that I'd technically be on site. If you were there, you might have wanted to say hi.
But hey, if you were at ApollyCon and stopped by Vela's booth, you can officially say we've met. Totally true fact.
(Here's Elsie Winters, my other fantasy-romance author friend in town, showing art of her delightful characters to a reader right before the morning rush started.)
So, circling back to my original question: Have you been to a book convention? What did you think? (Was it worth leaving the house?)
