I love it when characters make bargains, especially when there's a bit of danger lurking beneath the surface. The idea of the Rumpelstiltskin story, if not the actual fairy tale itself, is pretty irresistible.
So it's predictable that when a bunch of fantasy romance authors decided to write stories for an anthology, I got sucked in by the thought that I could play in the Clandestine Magic world and make it Rumpelstiltskin-themed.
You know: With a jerk of an omnimancer in the role of the king, a woman in the role of the miller's daughter who thinks she has no choice but to marry him, and the omnimancer's intriguing assistant as Rumpelstiltskin.
You guys, I've had so much fun working on this.
The anthology's coming out later β I'll tell you more about it once it's been officially announced. But if that little bit of detail sounds interesting and you'd like to be considered for an advance review copy once they're available, raise your hand here:
(Don't worry, you're not making any promises at this stage. Or bargains.)
There's some Rumpelstiltskinish deal-making between the two main characters in The Opposite of Magic, my first book. So I apparently do really like this tale.
What's the fairy tale you find completely irresistible? Hit reply to let me know. I have a guess about the most popular one (sorry, Rumpelstiltskin, not you), and I'd love to know if I'm right.
