If you enjoy romantic fantasy books (and, um, I hope you do, since that's the stuff I write), here's a cool online event for you: FaRoFeb, short for Fantasy Romance February.
You'll find giveaways, readathons, author spotlights (bestseller Jennifer L. Armentrout's among the writers joining in) and lots more fun stuff.
Much of the action is on Facebook, but you can also find FaRoFeb on Instagram and at this website. I'll be taking over the Facebook page with author Kel Carpenter on Feb. 20, so come say hi! It'll be cool to electronically see you. Oh, and there's a fun micro story that a contest winner got started and several of us are finishing up β I'm writing the middle so I can't wait to see where the tale ends up.
I'm fascinated by the variety in this genre, by the way. It sounds pretty specific, but you'll find completely invented universes and through-the-looking-glass versions of the modern world, kick-butt monster slayers and healer-queens, light reads and dark plots. I'm kind of amazed that my suffragists-vs.-wizards novels fit anywhere, so you know this genre is a big tent.

If you're fond of Jane Austen or historical fiction, here's a treat: The awesome Christina Morland has a new novel out that's a variation on Sense and Sensibility. I was lucky enough to read it as it took shape, and it was a wonderful antidote to ... well, everything.
Morland starts with two intriguing questions: How does Marianne Dashwood, heartbroken and certain that her disastrous first love will be her last, get from there to falling for a man she once overlooked? And how does her sensible sister Elinor fare when tested with the inevitable challenges of a new marriage?
The Quill Ink calls it a "sumptuous and wholly original story," and I second that!
