Picture it: You're about to be shipped off to your awful uncle unless you can find someone to marry on short notice. Your only option seems to be your town's possibly-also-awful wizard.
His intriguing assistant says he'll help you manage it.
For a favor, price to be named later.
And he won't tell you his name.
Would you agree to that proposition?
And would you then fall for him, like the romanciest of romance tropes?
That's the premise of my "Into the Bargain" story, which I'm polishing up to release after the fairy tale anthology it was in went poof like all good fairy tale anthologies.
And last time, I shared the first part of a new scene that you can enjoy whether you've read the story or not.
Now you can gobble up the rest of that scene. Click the button to read it (and the first part, if you missed it).
He rose in one fluid motion and offered her a hand up. It was warm and pleasantly callused, her skin tingling at the point of contact.
βAre you all right?β he murmured. He was still holding her hand.

In other news, it's been a great few reading weeks: New books out in two fae series I love.
Lisette Marshall's Ruins of Sea and Souls is the latest in her blockbuster Fae Isles series, and everyone I know who read it had the same WOW reaction to the end. (Plenty of wow before the end, too, but π€© that final line.) These books about a woman with forbidden magical power and the fae executioner who thinks she's humanity's last hope are epic.
And S.L. Prater just finished a duology in her Fae Tricksters series that hits all the "must be in want of a wife" feels for us gaslamp fantasy types while also providing a warrior witch who can't remember her past, a fae duke who doesn't believe in love and a plot that's one heck of a ride. (So, you know ... WOW.)
What have you been reading lately that you've loved?
