Were you one of those kids who dreamed of having a magical adventure?
(That's got to be most of us fantasy-reading people, right?)
The idea of an adult character with that background who stumbles upon a wizard and decides she is going to get that belated adventure, darn it, utterly charmed me when I thought of it.
It turned into The Opposite of Magic, my first book.
Well, this has been a very Opposite of Magic summer for me — nearly a decade after it came out — because I've been busy doing some work on it.
First off: NEW COVER.
You won't see it anywhere else yet because as long as I was updating the cover, I thought I'd go through and freshen up the story. No big changes, mainly sharpening the banter and extending the one scene with steam (in part to provide more banter — did I mention I love banter?).
If you've read the book in Kindle Unlimited and want a copy of that first-edition version, now's the time to grab it.
If you'd rather have the new cover and freshened-up story, wait just a bit — that'll be out soon.
Thank you to everyone here who offered cover ideas and encouragement earlier in the year! If that's you, you should have heard from me in the last few days with personal thanks ... and if you didn't, please hit reply so I can correct the oversight.
What do you think of the cover? If you've read the book, do the characters look anything like your mental picture of them? Let me know. 👀
