🖊️ Intro
Did you know that some websites that you use every day have built in shortcuts?
- YouTube
How, do you learn these shortcuts, with another shortcut of course.
While on the website, press ? (shift + /)
This will present you with a list of shortcuts you can use to navigate through the site.
🗄️ Useful links
✏️ Notion
This tool has been a game changer for me. This site lets you store any information however you like. It's like your own personal database. People use notion for just about everything. You can create personal finance systems, journals, goal trackers, fitness trackers, meal planners and more using notion.
🔧 iFixit
Don't you hate it when your electronics break? Some people are happy to just replace broken equipment. We are not those people. If it doesn't look impossible, then we will have a crack at fixing it ourselves. This handy site has some great repair guides for loads of different products.
🖼️ Canva
This is one of those tools that you almost don't want to give away because it makes designing great looking stuff look to easy. Canva is a free website that lets you load up a template and customize the design. They have templates for everything. We use it to design blog posts, and social media imagery.
😎 What we're up to
We've been building tools over the last few weeks. We have a new WordPress plugin that is almost ready to see the light of day (it just needs to be tested thoroughly first). Furthermore, we have built a notification script that puts a quote from Kevin Kelly up on our screens every 30 minutes (it also reminds us to have a break). We've built a PlayStation 5 in stock scraper, that tells us when the PlayStation 5's are back in stock (probably not any time soon). We've built a cryptocurrency trading bot. Not only that, but we've also done some work as well.
While to some, this all might look like we are wasting a lot of time, we actually use the building of these tools to learn and perfect new concepts in coding. For example, the Kevin Kelly project taught us how to send notifications to our computers using python, the PlayStation 5 stock checker helped us practice our web scraping and also practice the notification skill we picked up earlier, the trading bot lets us practice connecting and validating an API, so we can get information and make trades.
We've always felt that you can learn something really well when you apply it to a useful project. So, every chance we get, we put this into action.
