Resolutions or more mince pies?

Dear

Firstly I hope you had a cracking Christmas or a happy holidays! A new year approaches so it's time to look forward.

Should you bother to make resolutions? Statistically 92% of us who make resolutions will fail. About 40% by the second week of January!

In 2023, I overhauled my diet for good, lost and kept off 10 kilos and started strength training*. My best friend says I'm overly tigger-ish; a bit like a reformed smoker turned non-smoker or bacon sandwich addict turned vegan. I take that to mean bloody annoying, so apologies in advance...

What has that got to do with this business? Nothing and yet, indirectly everything. My energy levels are sky-high and despite the fairly rubbishness of perimenopause, I'm feeling more positive than ever. In 2024, I want to help more people achieve their career goals. High-quality, flexible work that works for you and your family.

What about your goals? Here's an approach to goal or resolution setting I saw liked and nicked!

  • Start with a word and then decide on three areas of your life that this will influence.

My word for 2024 is build and my three areas are relationships, health and career portfolio.

  • You might also include a wild card. Something outside of your normal stuff that would be great to achieve or something that you might think yourself unlikely to achieve, but it's so cool that it's worth a shot.

Mine is to become a champion for menopausal (and peri) women's health and well-being.

My 'build' career focus in January is my exciting (and free to attend!) expert interview series for career break mums - Return to Flexible Work which launches on the 22nd January. More about that next week.

For now, enjoy NYE in whatever way floats your boat. Finish up those Pringles and let's finish strong in 2023. 2024 we're coming for you!

Take care.

Rachel x

P.S. Feeling super-motivated and 2024 ready? Then why not book a free career chat with me for when the kids are back at school or nursery? I would love to connect with you.

P.S. 2 For those of you who did that before Xmas, I'm very impressed. You are career ninjas and your 2024 is going to be awesome! Look forward to talking to you w/c 8th Jan.
