NEW! Play Café will be held the fourth Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Adults can come enjoy a warm beverage while the kids play in the community room. For children ages 0-5 with their caregiver.

Join us for popcorn and a movie at 1:00 pm on the fourth Monday of each month.
Twisters (2024): Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Carter, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Ramos) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.

Whether you are new to Mahjongg or have been playing for years, head to the library on Monday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 p.m. to play. The group meets in Study Room C with overflow into the sun room. If you have a set, feel free to bring that with so multiple games can get going.

At The Library After School (ATLAS) is an after-school program for 1st - 5th graders consisting of read-aloud stories, exploring the library, crafts, movies, STEM, and activities. The program will run weekly on Mondays from 3:30-5:00pm starting September 8. Registration required. Registration is currently full.
Monday, February 23rd at 6:00 pm
Bring a pencil and some paper (or grab your laptop) and join a community of writers. Use the time to work on a project or join in on the prompts and games provided. The group meets from 6:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday nights whenever the library is open.
Tuesday, February 24th

Join us on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. for a fun, one-on-one program with bouncing rhymes, books, music, and group play just for our youngest patrons. This program is designed for ages birth to 18 months with a parent or caregiver. Older siblings may accompany.

Join us for an hour of games on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 1:00 pm. You can bring a friend and play from the assortment of games we have available, or you can bring your own games and teach others how to play!

Story time for children ages 3-5 and their families is held at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday, year-round. Story time consists of stories, body movement activities, songs, and rhymes, helping children grow the skills they need to become lifelong readers. Young children and their grown-ups are invited to join us for these free weekly events!

About the Author: Dave Markward has dedicated his professional life to public education, serving as a trusted source of knowledge for five decades. After graduating from Dubuque Senior High School (Iowa) and Augustana College (Illinois), Dave earned two advanced degrees from Western Illinois University and a doctorate from Illinois State University. He started his career as a junior high school science teacher, then served as a coach, principal, school district superintendent (including the Cedar Rapids Community School District and the Rock Island-Milan School District), college instructor and educational consultant. His first book, Free the Teachers: A Guide to Joyful Teaching and Learning, is dedicated to productive education reform. In his latest work, From Dubuque to Selma and Beyond: My Journey to Understand Racism in America, Dave delves into the complex world of racism. His memoir is a testament to his unwavering belief in humanity and the power of education to effect change.
