Multi-award-winning author Marie Wells Coutu finds beauty in surprising places, like undiscovered treasures, old houses, and gnarly trees. After a career writing for newspapers, magazines, state and local governments, and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, she returned to her first love: writing fiction. All three books in her Mended Vessels series, contemporary stories based on the lives of biblical women, have won awards in multiple contests. Her historical short story, All That Glitters, is included in the 2023 Saturday Evening Post Great American Fiction collection.

Turning dreams to reality is possible, but it wont happen by accident. Marie Wells Coutu, award-winning author and Clear Lake resident, accomplished her lifelong dream of becoming a published novelist in her sixties. She will share about her journey to publication as well as specific steps you can take to accomplish your dream, whether you want to be a writer or have some other goal in mind.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline: In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days.

When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune and control of the OASIS itself.

Then Wade cracks the first clue. Suddenly he's beset by rivals who'll kill to take this prize. The race is on and the only way to survive is to win.

January Introverts Book Club: Atomic Habits

A monthly opportunity to read the same books as others in the community without the added obligation to meet and discuss the book. Just check it out and return it like you would with any other inter-library loan book!

Atomic Habits by James Clear: No matter your goals, Atomic Habits offers a proven framework for improving--every day. James Clear, one of the world's leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results.

If you're having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn't you. The problem is your system. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don't want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Here, you'll get a proven system that can take you to new heights.
