Bring a pencil and some paper and join a community of writers. Use the time to work on a project or join in on the prompts and games provided. The group meets every Monday night at 6:00 pm in the library history room.

In this persuasive, well-researched book, Swedish conservationist Johan Eklöf urges us to appreciate natural darkness, its creatures, and its unique benefits.

One of the most recognizable insects in Iowa is the Monarch Butterfly, but how much do you know about their amazing migration and importance on our landscape? All ages are invited to join us to learn about these amazing critters with our very own Clear Lake Public Library historian, Cindy Richardson. You'll also get a chance to learn about other invertebrate conservation with Dave Holstad, retired from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Little Learners up to age 5 and their families are invited to join us at a local park for story time each Wednesday at 10:30a.m. Story time consists of stories, body movement activities, songs, and rhymes, helping children grow the skills they need to become lifelong readers. Feel free to stay after and play and make new friends!

Join us on the first and third Thursdays of the month for Coffee and Creativity! Bring a project to work on, share tips and patterns, chat with fellow crafters, and drink coffee all in a relaxing afternoon at the library. The coffee and some coloring supplies are provided.

At The Library After School (ATLAS) is an after-school program consisting of read-aloud stories, exploring the library, crafts, and activities. The program will run weekly on Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm starting January 12 – March 2 & March 30 – May 18. Registration is limited! Please stop by the children's desk at the library to sign up your child(ren).

Have you ever wondered what goes on in our natural world after the sun goes down? Celebrate "Earth Week" by joining local naturalist Cindy Findley for a 45 minute "Nighttime Wonder Walk" on Thursday, April 20 at 8:00 pm. We will re-connect with the sights, sounds, and smells of evening as we take a short hike and learn about nocturnal animals, stargazing, light pollution, and other nighttime wonders. Everyone is welcome to this fun event, but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Please be prepared for a short walk, bring a small flashlight, and an adventurous spirit. "Let's go on a Night Hike!"
The event will be held rain or shine (under cover if raining).
Pre-registration is requested but not required.

Join our Youth Services Librarian each Friday for a one-on-one program with bouncing rhymes, books, bubbles, music, and group play just for our youngest patrons. This program is designed for ages birth to 24 months with a parent or caregiver. Feel free to stay after to make new friends!
