Is This Weido Author Back In The Saddle Yet? 🐴
Oct 11, 2025 8:01 pm
...maybe.
(answering the question in this email's title) 😉
If you'd rather not read about all the weirdness that's disrupted my life during the past few weeks, check out two paranormal freebie events happening today and tomorrow. Dropping the graphics with their links here at the start for anyone who views indie authors as cogs in a machine rather than everyday humans trying to survive this thing called life.
(It'd be a lot easier to write and publish faster if I were a simple cog, but alas. Human being. Not even a witch. No elemental magic to help me out.)
I've also got a pair of stories—one of which is a boxed set of 3 chonky novels—in a limited edition bundle on itch. This one's highlighting underrated books, or the ones us authors wish you'd drop extra ratings/reviews for on Goodreads or Amazon. 🥹 63 books in a variety of genres for a super low price (especially for that boxed set of mine!), so make sure to take a peek before the bundle vanishes early next week.
All right, now to update you on what's happening in C.L. Carhart's life. And maybe a tiny update on Helena's tumultuous saga with the Black Priest Konstantin while we're at it! 🔮
As It Turns Out...I Can Cook 👀
Back in the summer my dad found out he had the dreaded 'c' word. At the end of September he had surgery to remove the offending organ, and since my mom's not in the best of health, I drove up to southern New Jersey to help them out while my dad recovered. Which basically meant I cooked, grocery shopped, picked up food from local restaurants, and fed their cats. 🐱
As a lucky lady who snagged herself a husband who considers cooking an art form, I don't have extensive experience preparing meals for myself or anyone else. Needless to say, I'm still surprised that both of my parents actually enjoyed every meal I cooked! Especially since I made 3 different mistakes while making 3 separate meals. 🙃
Now I'm back in upstate South Carolina and very grateful I can sit back and watch while my husband performs his 'art form' of cooking. 😅 If you cook for yourself and/or your family, you deserve loads of respect. It's definitely trial and error, but I'm not sure my creative brain feels any attraction to the 'art' aspect. Think I'll stick with writing magical fantasy and romance.
My dad's surgery went very well, and now he's able to move around and drive while his body continues to recover. We'll find out whether they got all of the 'c' word early next month, so I'd appreciate any positive prayers, thoughts, or vibes you can send his way. 🙏 He's been a big supporter of my author dream from the earliest years of my life, and I'm hoping he'll hang out on earth while I keep conjuring tales from my Teutonic Fantasy Realm.
(My dad's actually the reason I've invented an as-yet-unknown source for Teutonic magic. 🫢 Originally all of it stemmed from a dark deal cut with Wuotan in the 1st century, but he insisted I shouldn't taint Teutonic magic with demonic origins. So if he—and you—stick around long enough, you might find out all the secrets even Teuton priests don't know. And discover the divine origins of Teutonic magic. 🪄)
That's a pic of my dad and me from a couple years ago when we visited Bald Rock in South Carolina. Have you ever been there? It's a great place to watch the sunrise and peer into the distance at the bustling city of Greenville. If you've been to Bald Rock, send me a reply and tell me all about it!
Cyber Attack On My Book Shop 😱
This year there's been a rash of cyber attacks on indie author book shops, and while I was in New Jersey mine got targeted. Since I didn't have the time or the headspace to deal with the issue in recent weeks, I've set my website to private for now. Until I can get things cleaned up, you'll have to buy my eBooks from a retailer instead of my shop. 😢
Luckily this particular cyber attack doesn't affect customers; it just affects independent store owners seeking to make a living online. I guess that's the way this world generally works—evil people target the underdogs instead of those who wield power, because they think it's easier. Ugh.
That's why I have to write books where the good guys take shots at real evil. Since it's so rare in reality, we have to imagine it instead. 💖
For now, if you want to toss me some pennies of support while I clean up the mess my book shop has become, please browse any and all of my eBooks at your favorite retailer. Paperbacks can be found on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and eBooks can be purchased almost everywhere.
If you prefer to toss as few of your pennies as possible at the tech overlords, itch takes the smallest cut of my royalties, and after that is Smashwords. The other retailers pay around the same amount, or 70% of the price of a book.

ARC Team: Hunted Awaits You 🎉
Over 50 readers have joined my ARC team and eagerly devour each new story in the Teutonic Fantasy Realm. Every single one of you needs to check your inbox around 5pm EST today to grab your copy of Hunted by the Undead. The eBooks will be coming from BookFunnel, so be sure to check your spam and promotions inboxes if you don't see the email in your main one.
As always, reviews are NOT required (a certain retailer demands I say this 😉), but I would love, love, love to see reviews dropping for Hunted by the Undead as soon as you get a chance to read it. The second book in Helena and Konstantin's saga ends on a much quieter note than the first book's brutal tragedy, but our hero and heroine uncover countless more trials and puzzles to solve as they seek to unify their destinies.
You are AWESOME for joining them—and me!—along the way.
**Triggers: Hunted by the Undead includes sensitive content, so please go into this aware of what you'll encounter. Along with the 'usual' stuff like profanity, sexual situations, dark ritual magic, murder, human sacrifice, torture (this part is pretty harrowing), and social prejudices, this book broaches the subject of organized abuse perpetuated against children. If that's not something you're ready to read about, please skip Hunted by the Undead. No judgment here!
October Book Fairs
Along with the two freebie events and the itch bundle linked at the top of this email, I've got books in three BookFunnel events this month, as well as a romantasy feature on Kobo Plus. Each event is linked on its relevant graphic below, and each one contains a big collection of fantastical reads to bolster your TBR. Check them out right here ⬇️

As the feud between these two clans reaches its boiling point, the time has come to take a side, for the fate of Elizabella hangs in the air.
In a land of the shifters, a centuries-old feud has torn apart two powerful clans. Amidst this chaos, Elizabella Brennan, a fox shifter, yearns for freedom from the cycle of death that plagues her pack. But just as she prepares to make her escape, destiny has another idea.
Rafferty Byrnes, a formidable alpha mountain lion shifter, who seems to find joy in the tortures he does to her. As she braces herself for the familiar torment inflicted by Rafferty’s cruel games, she prepares to leave her hometown forever.

Running is what I’m good at, as a lynx, I’m a total loner. I don’t need anyone, least of all a meddlesome wolf who sticks his nose where it doesn’t belong. Worse, he’s a small town good boy. Too straight-laced for his own good.
But running gets tiresome, even for an established loner like me. With sparks flying against my better judgment, and danger dogging my heels. I might just let the wolf have a little nibble. What could possibly go wrong?

Freya isn’t just trouble—she is the kind of trouble that sinks into your bones, gets under your skin, and refuses to let go. And I wanted her anyway.
The pull between us is undeniable, and the more I fight it, the stronger it becomes. It isn’t just attraction—it is something deeper, older. My wolf has recognized her.
But Freya? She isn’t the claiming type.
Not yet, anyway.
Now that I've written a novella in newsletter form 🤪, I'd better let you get on with your weekend. Loads of fresh stories to dive into, whether you're sitting by the fireplace or out on the porch relishing spring's awakening. Don't forget to grab your copy of Hunted by the Undead to start the second part of Helena's saga with Konstantin, and pick up Claimed by the Undead if you haven't read the first book in their series yet.
Will catch you later next week. In the meantime stay weird and happy reading!
Talk to you soon,
C.L. Carhart
