Magical Stories In Historical Settings 🏰

I'll admit, all my readers surprised me last week. Whether you got to my newsletter from a freebie BookFunnel anthology, a giveaway, or because you happened to read one of my books, I never imagined you'd be SO enthusiastic about an anthology of historically-inspired paranormal romances!

I'm nearly done reading Dukes of Magic myself, and it's still my favorite BookFunnel anthology out of the three I've participated in so far. It's so much fun reading about witches, vampires, werewolves, and other types of paranormal creatures without modern conveniences clattering along behind.

...Says the indie author whose Teutonic Fantasy Realm is an alternate reality mirroring our world. With most of its published stories set in the modern era. 🤣

Opinion Time!

Now that I know you've got an interest in fantasy romances steeped in historical elegance, I wonder whether you'd enjoy a wider variety of books like that? I've noticed there aren't too many indie authors who publish historically-inspired paranormal romances. Laura Greenwood, Katherine Dotterer, Maria Grace, and Demelza Carlton come to mind...but that's it.

Have you ever wondered what things were like in the Teutonic Fantasy Realm before the 1900s? What was the Regency era like for people with mystical blood? What would happen if a noble witch was betrothed to a foreign, non-magical lord...and she suddenly became Leitalra of a Teuton city? 👀

I don't know about you, but now I might have to find out.

Once I finish the last full-length novel in my Elemental Bloodlines series (still 3 books down the pike), I'll have to decide where to go with my next batch of Teutonic fantasy novels. 📚 So my question is this:

*IF* I were to write a series of Teutonic fantasy romances set in the past, which sort of stories would appeal to you the most?

Like the last time I ran a poll, each button will take you to a separate page on my online shop. Yeah, I know, it's kind of weird to do it that way. But yep, C.L. Carhart's newsletter gremlins don't give this author any other choice. 🤖

Can't wait to find out what sort of historically-inspired tales you'd like to read next! Always ready to expand my Teutonic Fantasy Realm. 😊

When words fail, bring out the guns, swords, and death spells.

Marina is the daughter of Tsar Alexander the Cruel, the most powerful warlock. She’s also a princess of the Court of White Rose. The only problem is that she’s mundane—she has no magic.

On her sixteenth birthday Marina fled from her father’s tsardom to the revolutionist side of Muscovy, and five years later she’s doing all right, working as a seamstress in the United Workers’ Factory. Despite the political police, the never-ending witch hunt, and her best friend living as an orange cat, she’s happy. She gets along with her cottage mates and is even seeing a guy...

Until the city blows up, she’s implied in the sabotage, her guy turns out to be an enemy, her friends are murdered, and an alchemist maniac hunts her down for a blood vendetta.

A girlie road trip around Ireland seems like just the thing I need to escape my narcissistic boss and the breakup of my long-term relationship. But when a stop off at an old graveyard ends in an unexplained seizure, all chances for fun go out the window.

The dreams that follow are so vivid and disturbing that they haunt my waking hours almost as much as my sleeping ones. But what if they’re not really dreams?

When a sexy stranger appears spouting stories about the Tuatha Dé Danann and the Fomorians, I’m convinced he’s a conman. He claims I’m Guardian of an ancient magic. I say he’s crazy.

So, what do you do when crazy turns out to be true?

With magic gone from our world, I’m the only one standing between two ancient races and an agenda that I can’t even begin to comprehend.

Welp, I'd better let you get back to your busy life, while I plunge deep into the bonus story I'm writing about Doro & Amira. If you've already read Gift of Darkness, then you know our two elemental witches are excited about starting a family of their own. And you know what happened in the last chapter. 😁

Well, the bonus story will offer the inside scoop about their first foray into magical parenthood. Including more insight on that mysterious Black Priest who lurks in the shadows doing scientific experiments. 🧐

Next week I should have more to share on that note. For now, have a wonderfully weird week, and don't forget to vote in my poll!

Talk to you soon,
