Something Rather GIANT Is On The Way 📜
Apr 04, 2024 7:45 pm
Before I reveal the identity of the GIANT thing coming around the corner, I want to take a second to thank every reader out there who has joined me on my weirdo journey through the Teutonic Fantasy Realm. A world of elemental magic and crazy blood rituals that doesn't quite fit into the stereotypical "box" of witchy fiction. It's been amazing to have more and more readers decide they actually like my fantasy world, since I tend to struggle with imposter syndrome.
"Why in the world would ANYone want to read what you write, when there are so many popular fantasy/romance stories out there that don't demand readers ponder what they've read? Most people read for fun, not because they want to contemplate heavy themes. And readers who DO want to do those things have 0 patience for romance; they'd rather read nonfiction or Tolkien. Why can't your disjointed creative brain pick 1 lane and stay in it?"
C.L. Carhart shrugs, and her Teuton witches hold on for a twisted ride.
So for real, thank you so much for sticking with me since you first ran into one of my books. Whether you learned about the Teutonic Fantasy Realm through ice witch Swanie in Arcane Gateway or Veiled Magic, or through air witch Ilsa in Gift of Air, I'm deeply honored to have you here with me while my weirdo brain conjures up new tales of magic, drama, and sizzling romance.
You are awesome! I love you so much. 💖
🌸 Spring Has Sprung 🌸
You might still be in the depths of winter (or summer) in your part of the world, but spring has barreled into South Carolina in all its pollen-filled glory. 😉 I just took some photos of the flowers blooming in my yard, so let's take a look at those before we dive back into the Teutonic Fantasy Realm. I've got some pink azaleas showing out right beside my front door.
Plus a bit too much wisteria hanging on the edges of the property.
Aaaaaaaand of course a violet. No, I didn't eat this one. 😄
Have you got any spring flowers blooming in your neck of the woods? If so, send me a reply with a photo or two! Despite the pollen aspect, I love to admire the vibrant colors of nature's awakening. I hope you do too. 🌹🌷🌼🌻
HNWA Boxed Set Incoming
If you've been hanging out on my newsletter since early last year—or if you've visited my online book shop at some point—you might have noticed a giant boxed set exists that includes all 8 books in my debut series, His Name Was Augustin. For an entire year, that boxed set has been hanging out on my shop, collecting the occasional binge reader here and there.
Maybe you're one of those binge readers. If so, you're amazing. 💖
A while back, I decided it's time to upload that giant boxed set onto the retailers so readers who don't happen to swing by my shop can grab all 8 books in 1 collection. So at long last the complete collection of His Name Was Augustin is available to pre-order everywhere except Amazon (since they banned me from pre-orders last August).
Best part?
Right now you can grab that GIANT collection of books for only $9.99. 😱
If you buy all 8 books in the series one by one, you'll pay around $32. So this is a gigantic discount that won't last long. It took me 6 years to write all the books in His Name Was Augustin, so I can't justify selling the complete collection at such a low price indefinitely. But I'm totally willing to do that for its first week out in the wild, in hopes you might decide to give Swanie's saga a chance.
Fair warning that I wrote His Name Was Augustin before I had any concept of "genre expectations" or "how humans absorb stories." I also wrote it right after I earned a degree in history, so it might be overstuffed with hefty words and long sentences. (Oops on my part; a mistake I try not to make now that I've learned!)
Also fair warning that His Name Was Augustin includes darker content than any of the books in Elemental Bloodlines. There are scenes of on-page sexual assault and on-page murder. There is cheating. There are multiple love interests when I had no intentions of making the series a reverse harem/why choose. There are several instances of child loss. The religious overtones are more in-your-face than in Elemental Bloodlines. And the primary love interest (yes, Augustin himself) is a disgusting villain when he first arrives on the scene in the second book. Not a mere antihero. A villain.
Swanie literally watches Augustin sacrifice a woman to a demon and still decides to give him a chance to change because she's infatuated. 🤦♀️
(Yes, I know in real life that's pretty much the biggest red flag ever. But in dark romantic fantasy time travel that fits in no genre...well...here we are. 🤷♀️)
And I'll admit Augustin's still my fantasy lover where Teuton priests are concerned. Although he's got some competition now thanks to some of the dudes in Elemental Bloodlines. (Nope, not admitting which ones. 😉)

Amazon Readers: Heads Up
Now I realize you might be miffed you can't pre-order the complete collection of His Name Was Augustin on Amazon yet. Totally not fair that you can grab it from all the other retailers but not your favorite one, right? 🥺
Don't despair.
Yet.
The GIANT boxed set will release everywhere on Wednesday, April 10th. And that includes Amazon. When next week's newsletter hits your inbox, you'll be able to grab 8 books in 1 boxed set so you can binge to your heart's content.
However.
Remember I said I'm running the deep discount for only a short period of time? Starting 1 week from its release date, the complete collection of His Name Was Augustin will increase in price from $9.99 to $24.99. When that happens, it will be vanishing from Amazon never to return.
What?????? WHY?!?!?!?!?!
We all know Amazon imagines itself to be the biggest eBook retailer on the planet, and it probably is. Which means its overlords use their imagined power to punish indie authors who don't follow their "pricing rules." The only way an indie author can get 70% royalties on their eBooks from Amazon is if the books are priced between $2.99 and $9.99.
Once the complete collection of His Name Was Augustin goes up to full price at $24.99, Amazon would pay me only 35% in royalties.
And pocket the other 65% because OBVIOUSLY they're broke. 😒
Therefore, the GIANT boxed set of my His Name Was Augustin series will exist on Amazon for only 1 week. April 10th to April 16th. After that I'll unpublish it and list it at full price everywhere else (including my shop).
So when my email hits your inbox next week, don't sit around thinking about whether you can really shell out $9.99 for 8 books. It's then or never. And we can all grumble amongst ourselves about Amazon's unfair pricing rules.

Other Books You Might Like
As usual I've got 2 books by other indie authors for you to take a peek at today. Best part is both books are FREE! One requires a newsletter signup, while the other is a no-strings-attached freebie on the retailers. Whether you're in the mood for spicy sugary romance or a shifter adventure, my fellow authors have got you covered.
Jane is a freelance editor and adjunct English professor whose best friend—this year’s Heart Healthy Women chairperson—begs her to write an article for their fundraising cookbook and celebrity dinner. How can she say no, even if he is significantly younger?
The kitchen isn’t the only place they get hot and steamy, but when she meets his mother, an old colleague, and a girl she babysat as a toddler at the celebrity dinner, can she handle their age difference since he makes her feel things she’s never felt before?
High school sophomore Grazi Kelly leads an ordinary life in the suburbs of New Jersey helping her grandmother with chores and attending Catholic school. Things are pretty good except for her bullying cousin and the rest of the obnoxious cheer team.
Things take a frightening turn when the night of the full moon arrives and the bodies start piling up. Grazi learns that she is different in ways she never expected. Torn between Sebastian, the school soccer star and Ronan, a foreign exchange student who shares her secret.
She must uncover the identity behind the mysterious attacker, but is she ready for the entire truth?
I hope you find something fun to read among the books listed above, and reserve your copy of Swanie's wild adventure into the hidden annals of Teuton history from your favorite retailer (or my shop!). If you haven't started reading Gift of Snow yet, it's finally out everywhere including Kobo...which means you can read it for free if you subscribe to Kobo Plus.
Have a wonderfully weird week, and happy reading!
Talk to you soon,
C.L. Carhart
