Lots Of Stories Drifting Through The Ether 💫

As much as I'd like to go off on some spiel about writerly muses and other weird topics, that subject line tells me I'd better state the truth right up front.
✨Time To STUFF That E-Reader ✨
Since you're hanging out on my author newsletter, you've likely been around the indie book block enough to have some inkling about a huge quarterly freebie event on all the retailers. You might also know that many of the freebies available in such events tend to be the same old, same old.
Well.
Not this time. 👀
From today until Friday the 22nd, you can find links to 2,400 FREE romance eBooks of all varieties on the RomanceBookworms website. Yes, the majority of the eBooks are free on Kindle—can't disparage the KU authors among us. But the lists for the other retailers like Apple, Kobo, Google Play, and Nook appear to have over 900 eBooks included too! 🎉
If you need a break from the paranormal & fantasy romances I typically share, be sure to take a peek at the RomanceBookworms website between now and Friday. Young adult, romantic suspense, cozy mysteries, sweet romance, historical romance, western romance, even erotica available. ðŸ¤
Be sure to check out books by indie authors that are new to you. Remember, all of us broke creators would love to find new reader fans, because your support keeps those authorly muses flowing!
C.L. Carhart's Freebie
So which Teutonic Fantasy book has C.L. Carhart tossed into the freebie hat?
You've probably read this book already, because it's gone through several iterations since it first crept into my consciousness early last year. It's been part of 2 anthologies—the Fates & Mates BookFunnel anthology hosted by Laura Greenwood, and the Lunar Rising anthology hosted by Stephanie Morris.
If you're a member of my ARC team, you probably reviewed Gift of Air way back when it was part of the Lunar Rising anthology. That was when you first met the sassy young witch Ilsa and the Teuton priest who rescued her from a terrible fate—Horst. 🔥
Since early this year, I've offered Gift of Air as a free novella in exchange for signing up to my newsletter. What you might not know is that back when Gift of Fire had a BookBub in July, I frantically tossed 3 of my novellas onto the retailers in an attempt to offer readers more opportunities to buy affordable stories from me. Since Gift of Air isn't a full-length novel, it's priced much cheaper than all of the main stories in my series.
Gift of Air has been sitting peacefully—and mostly ignored—on Amazon, Apple, Nook, Kobo, and Google Play for 3 months now. Thus far, it's earned only 1 review during its time all alone on the retailers. 😓
And today it's out in front of hungry book dragons in the Stuff Your E-Reader Event.
Should I Get Gift of Air?
You might be wondering whether it's worth it to download Gift of Air, since I haven't made much of a fuss about it being out in the wide world. As the author, I happen to like both Ilsa and Horst, and I think their love story is steamy and inspiring. 😉 But don't take it from me! Check out what readers on my ARC team said about Gift of Air back when it was in the anthology:
Note: If you happen to be a part of my ARC team and you'd like to copy your original review onto Amazon, Goodreads, BookBub, or wherever else Ilsa and Horst have taken up residence, just send me a quick reply and I'll toss a screenshot of your review your way.
Yes, I do keep a stash of positive reviews. Yes, I know indie authors "aren't supposed to read reviews." No, I don't follow the rules. 😜
Random Alpine Photo
Last week I shared a picture I took in the Alps several years ago, since most of the books in my Elemental Bloodlines series take place in the mountains of Austria. Today's photo is one I found on a Facebook page. Even though I didn't take it myself, I've definitely experienced those Alpine cows ambling along the back roads in the mountains! Can't expect to travel fast in farm country. 😉
Thanks to Chelsea Mandy for the awesome photo. I totally envision Horst's hometown looking something like this.
Other Books You Might Like
In honor of the Stuff Your E-Reader Event, both of the recommended reads I'm sharing today are also free! The first one's available on BookFunnel, while the second is a no-strings-attached download. Please support my fellow authors and check out both books if the blurbs ignite your interest. 💖
An adventure unfolds in this epic fantasy short story of wondrous creatures, clashing cultures, a mysterious evil force, and four distinct races fighting against an unknown enemy determined to destroy them all.
During the previous full moon, the ancient salvus trees prepared to display their fall colors and stood sentry over the Florix tribes who lived in the branches below. But, as fast as storm clouds rolling in, a fatal black sludge attacked the plant life, poisoned the water, and left the forest people sick and dying. Painful black boils appeared on farmers’ and herb-gatherers’ hands and arms, and in mere days the killing disease spread to entire families. Within a month, the bane decimated entire villages. Nothing would stop the spread of death. Not even their healer’s magic....
Asha is the Queen of the Fey, genetically engineered immortal humans who feed on human souls to survive. But she's running from her people. When she is found by her enemy, one of the Hunters of the Fey, she expects to die. Yet he's oddly intrigued by her, and Asha finds herself falling in love with him, hoping she can find safety and the home she's been seeking. Then she's kidnapped, and everything changes.
Fallon is a Hunter. She's looking for her long-lost sister Asha, using an addictive drug to search through the stream of time. Her addiction leaves her dangerously exposed to her enemies but, consumed by her search, she doesn't care...until her fellow Hunters start dying from a mysterious illness. She is torn between duty and desire, and must find an answer before they all die.
What Fallon doesn't know is that Asha might just be the key to saving them all, if only she can find her. And time is running out.
Okay, I'd better let you get some peace to browse all the fresh, new stories in the Stuff Your E-Reader Event. I'll admit I've got some on my wishlist myself. 🤩 You'll hear from me again on Friday with one last reminder to browse the event, along with one more book fair filled with freebies, deals, and new releases.
In the meantime, happy reading and have a wonderfully weird week.
Talk to you soon,
C.L. Carhart
