More Books+Waterfall Pix. Doesn't Get Any Better! 🌊
Dec 01, 2024 5:01 pm
As promised in my "annoyingly desperate-sounding" Black Friday email, I've got some more bookish events for you today, along with a couple photos taken shortly after my last email dropped into your inbox.
Yes indeed, my husband and I ran off into the woods!
Yes indeed, we visited THREE waterfalls!
And surprisingly enough, we came out alive! 🤣
I'm trying to keep today's email short and sweet since I'm sure your inbox is still overflowing with Black Friday & Cyber Monday messages. We're going to enjoy the waterfall pictures first, because I don't know about you, but I might need a break from all the selling pleas I've been wading through in my own inbox.
Two WNC Waterfalls
On Black Friday my husband and I scurried away from all of the shopping hordes and vanished into the far western corner of North Carolina. We visited three waterfalls in the Nantahala Forest, an area spared from the worst of the hurricane damage. All three waterfalls are along US-64 and are part of the Cullasaja River, and none required lengthy hikes. Score!
This first photo is Scadin Falls, a lesser-known waterfall with two drops and an intriguing tight squeeze between boulders there at the bottom. The scariest part about visiting this waterfall was the fact that we had to walk across US-64 right at a hairpin curve. The parking area is on the opposite side of the road, but thankfully it was easy to hear when there was a vehicle coming.
This second photo is of my husband and me together at Quarry Falls—which is also known as Bust Your Butt Falls since apparently a lot of people like to slide down into the pool below during the summer months. 🤪 While we were eyeballing this waterfall, a kid offered to take our picture. Surprisingly enough, he got a GOOD picture! Maybe he's got a future career in photography....
I know I promised to share more photos from my October trip out to Vegas, but we'll have to wait for my next email to see more of those. Once that one hits your inbox, we'll have traveled away from the cold and damp Nantahala Forest to a hot, dry dormant volcano in New Mexico.
More Black Friday/Cyber Monday Book Events
In case you didn't get quite enough from my last email (LOL, riiiight?), I've got three more events hosted by other indie authors that ought to get your TBR nice and bulked up. Let's start with a nice packet of free books!
Next we've got a big and juicy book blast filled with romance novels in every sub-genre imaginable. Each book is only 99¢ for just two more days, and the sub-genres are separated into clickable sections so you don't have to waste time scrolling through the stories that don't match your reading preferences.
And finally we've got one more reminder of a BookFunnel blast that's just about to dissolve into a mass of butterflies winging away toward the sea. I seem to recall that there are 23 books available for 99¢ each right here and right now. Don't forget to check it out before Cyber Monday's over.
Now I'd better let you get back to whatever you've got going on this weekend as we prepare to face the first week of December. Winter is sniffing around the corner in my neck of the woods—last night it got down to 26º F, or -3º C 🥶. That's pretty darn cold for South Carolina, have to admit.
Might be time to curl up under a thick blanket with a good book in hand!
If you haven't nabbed a copy of Gift of Fire yet, it's only 99¢ for just a couple more days. Grab it at the first link below to discover Gabi's love story.
Talk to you soon,
