📚 Paperbacks: Yes Or No? 📚

Got some good news to share on the bookish front today, but before we get into that, be sure to check out all the sizzling indie reads available in the Stuff Your Kindle With Fantasy event going on right now. While I'm not participating this time around, lots of author friends are, so be sure to check it out! And yes, you'll find some books available on retailers other than Kindle, too.

Paperbacks: Do You Want Them?
If you've been aware of the existence of C.L. Carhart's Teutonic Fantasy Realm since it first kicked off into the public sphere back in 2021, you likely know that there are paperbacks available for each of the full-length books in my complete His Name Was Augustin series. You can find them online at Amazon and at quite a few other places that sell paperbacks.
Since then, I haven't exactly kept up with the paperback side of things. To be super frank, it's a pain in the butt to format for paperback in Microsoft Word. The process takes FOREVER. 😖 Particularly the hyphenations.
And no, I'm not rich enough to invest in a better program that would make the formatting process less tedious. At least not yet. Holding out hope that will change in the future though! Goals!
Another factor that's held me back from publishing loads of paperbacks is that generally speaking, the indie reading community seems to prefer eBooks. Aside from signed copies I've sold to my friends & family, I can count the number of paperbacks I've sold on all of my fingers and toes.
And that ain't much.
Especially considering the time involved with formatting. 😵
That being said, I'm considering working my way through formatting every book in Elemental Bloodlines—novellas included—into paperbacks. So now it's time to get your opinion. Do you LOVE paperbacks? If I publish paperbacks for all of the books in my latest complete series, would you buy them?
It's poll time! And since the cyber gremlins who run the back end of my newsletter have yet to add a simple poll feature, each button in the poll will take you to places (like Goodreads) where you can stalk my authorly updates.
(YES you can click more than one option if you agree with more than one statement regarding paperbacks!)

Dude, I freaking LOVE paperbacks because they smell great and they work even if the power grid goes out! Count me in; I'll buy every.single.one.
Have to admit, I'm way too broke to buy paperbacks all over the place. But I might buy one or two for birthdays and Christmas!
Ain't NObody got room for all those paperbacks. Myself included!
What about signed paperbacks? I'd be more interested in those than some generic book. If they're signed, they've been handled by the author. 👀
Got any thoughts to add regarding paperbacks? Please send them my way in a reply or in a comment on social media. I've been assuming readers prefer eBooks for a couple years now, so if it turns out I need to set aside time for creating paperbacks for all of my books, I'd like YOU to tell me. 💖
Bookish Events Of The Month
You'll be hearing from me again on Saturday with a book fair celebrating the autumn (or spring) solstice, so I'm keeping this email short and sweet. Need to add more fantastic reads to your TBR? Start here:
Other Books You Might Like
Got two books by my fellow authors to share with you today. The first one seems to involve a rather sexy merman professor 😮, while the other is a first-in-series time travel book I read several years ago. Haven't finished the series yet, but since it's currently free on most retailers—even Amazon—I figured I'd share.
My whole life, I dedicated myself to discovering the secrets of the ocean. When I encounter a merman, I think I might be losing my mind. Except he’s real, and he's asking me out, spilling all his secrets, sating my curiosity, and stirring my lust. My own private nerdy professor turned merman; he ticks all my boxes.
What do I do when my merman is in danger of being discovered by my colleagues? Do I turn my back on them and help him? Do I sink or swim? Do I fall in love?
Emily thought her scholarship was a step forward... Not a step backward... In Time.
Upstate New York, 2012. Emily Stanton, a sociology major, graduates from college and is obligated to work for the mysterious company that funded her education. But a job with Evergreen Research Corporation is not what she expected.
From fancy balls and operas to corsets and kid gloves, Emily learns to be a specialist in 1910 society. In the process, she finds herself fully immersed in the lives of wealthy aristocrats and industry leaders, whose thirst for power leads them to manipulate everything, including time. Thrust into this strange and dangerous world, Emily becomes their most important asset.
I hope you've found a nice batch of books to keep you occupied while I continue building the next dark and dangerous Teutonic saga. 🖤 Might have a few updates on that this weekend. But for now, stay weird and happy reading!
Talk to you soon,
