Writing cave confusion!

Do you ever dive into a project and it's so exciting—so consuming even, that you forget about the rest of the world around you? Because I'm struggling with that right now.

I'm deep in the "writing cave" which just means that I'm writing ALL the words for a story, and immersing myself in the world and characters. It's amazing. I'm having so much fun writing this story...but then I forget that I have other things I need to do in life. Things like sleep or exercise. My spring cleaning project definitely got put on hold for this story. 😬

Let's just say that I'm doing everything in my power to carve out some extra time to write even if it means little sleep deprived circles under my eyes.

Lucky for me, we're almost to the season where my kids will be wanting to play outside all the time, so I'll get to sit in my lawn chair and watch my kids play while I write stories. One of my favorite seasons of the year!

In the meantime...if you're missing some Boone cousin interaction, here's a little snippet from Tuesdays Like That:

Kylie slid off the bar stool with a pained groan. "Are you going to fix things with Tuesday then?"

I ignored her question and, instead, held her arm as she sat down in the second plush chair in the living room.

"Forget the house," she snapped.

I glanced over my shoulder at Mack who frantically whispered, "Just go with it." He mimed a pregnant belly, and I nodded slowly.

Kylie was always so nice, welcoming. We all joked that she was the mom of our cousin group. Except, pregnant Kylie was a different beast. A scary one.

"What would you like to talk about?" I asked as I headed into the kitchen to grab a drink out of the fridge.

"Your wife."

"That's a closed subject," I snapped as I flicked the lid off a soda.

"I'm opening it. Jordan, don't take this personally, but you look horrible. Have you even slept since you broke up?"

"Not much," I admitted. I couldn’t blame it on the house renovation either. Mack had zero deadlines. I'd offered to do this project of my own volition. I wanted to get the house finished for him. Heaven knew he'd done a lot for me over the years, so it wouldn't have been fair to throw that out as an excuse, even to deter Kylie.

"When are you going to admit the truth?" Kylie asked as she mindlessly rubbed a hand over her belly.

"That I epically messed up?"

"Yes, that," Kylie agreed rather too quickly for my taste.

"There's nothing but heartache waiting for me down that road."

"I hate to break it to you, buster, but you've already arrived at the heartbreak destination." Mack snorted.

"Oh, so now I have to listen to it from you, too?" I rested my hand on the countertop with a smack.

Mack shrugged. "Listen, I know you were the most serious about her out of any girlfriend you've ever had. You’ve just got to ask yourself why. Is it because she's special or you're bored? Would you have cared as much if it was someone else?"

"No." My answer was immediate.

"Then you know what you need to do."

"What if I mess it up?"

"You will," Kylie piped up dryly.

"Thank you, Helpful Henry."

"No, I'm serious. You're going to mess things up. Everyone does. What matters is if you think she's worth it."

"Worth messing up? I love her. I don't want to mess her up!"

"Aha!" Kylie acted as though she might launch herself out of the chair, but then ultimately thought better of it.

Mack looked like he was fighting off a smile.

"You love her," Kylie's smug voice grated on me.

"Yes. Why do you think I let her go?"

"Because you're a fool?" Mack suggested.
