After months of plotting, planning, brainstorming, and work, it is finally time to announce that The Royal Renegade, Book One in the Crown & Cloak Chronicles, is available for pre-order right here!
This book has broken my chops somewhat in brainstorming and writing, simply because I am so attached to the William of Alamore stories that it is hard to set them aside. But I've known for years that Esrin's tale, his backstory, was one I couldn't wait to write.
And here we are! The story is well underway, with the very rough draft pages released one at a time on Patreon. (I call this a working draft, as I generally rewrite a fair bit of the book before it ever goes to Beta and ARC readers.)
A reminder of what you can expect in this series is:
Five books spanning five years (is the plan... see below note on why that might change)
Shorter books than the William of Alamore (I hope at least, as the writer, since that means I can release them faster! Will this actually happen? Not sure? If it does, there may be more books)
But the important things:
- The Kelkor backstory
- The backstory of how Esrin went from loyal to Tollien to loyal to Alamore
- The Ridgar backstory
- Returning character casts (just in the first chapters alone we should see a lot of familiar names!)
- A different take on squire training
- And much, much, more
The cover is a current working cover until I can come up with a design that I truly love and would be proud to roll out to my fine readers. There are a few concepts being bounced around, but at this point it is very much on the back-burner until this story is further along, as I would love to release it well before the listed released date on Amazon.
So, keep an eye open!
And please enjoy this mini side quest I did this week of helping with hay farming--where I learned to drive a few pieces of equipment I'm not familiar with while listening to Brandon Sander's course on YouTube (if you want to start writing, I highly recommend you check it out!)
Hope your summers are all going well and you are having some mini sidequests of your own! I'd love to hear about them if you're willing to share!
