Grateful, yet not satisfied.

This past weekend I placed 3rd in my age group at the HYROX Fitness Competition that I entered. And while I PR'd this race, I was not satisfied with my performance.

The thing about life, is that when you want to go from "good" to "great" ... that extra 1% percent better is going to be tougher than the previous 90% put together.

What I mean by this is that when you start to get the hang of something, you eventually start to see some solid progress.

Yet, if you want to go from "solid progress," to "world class" ... it will take an extreme amount of work just to get that small percentage better.

That is the phase of life I find myself in these days.

Not just in HYROX, but in my career as well.

It can be overwhelming to think about how much work I have to do just to accrue that 1%.

Have you ever felt this ^^^ way?

You know how far you have already come, and you are grateful for it all, yet you know you have so much more work to do to reach the true pinnacle of success that you see for yourself?

I write this today because some people around you won't understand you if you are striving for that extra 1%.

Friends and family won't understand why you skip gatherings, have changed your habits, and dedicated your life to something that is important to you, yet confusing to them.

And I want to be the guy to let you know that there are people like you! You can still be a part of a community that encourages you to strive for that 1%.

^^^ This is what I felt over the weekend.

All the people around me, even though we technically competed against each other, ultimately we all are seeking the 1% improvement within ourselves. And we support each other along that mission.

So if you don't have a community like this, please don't give up hope! They exist!

And if you'd love some tips on how to cultivate your own, connect with me.

Rising tides lift all ships.

We can go so much further in this life... TOGETHER!

p.s. I am grateful for how sore I am today. LOL. It is my body's feedback saying "CJ you have more work to do, and I am showing you exactly where to focus your work." :)
