Take COMPLETE OWNERSHIP.

Below is a picture from my most recent blood work.

All my levels came back good except for one thing, Adiponectin.

Low levels of this are seen in those who struggle with obesity, or insulin resistance / diabetes.

I am far from obese, yet it has become more common for high intensity athletes to show signs of insulin resistance.

So what did I do?

Instead of doing nothing like most people do...

I immediately took action and got myself a continuous glucose monitor.

Here are some photos of what it looks like, and me putting it on the back of my arm.

And here is a screenshot of the reading levels during the first night wearing it.

And for your reference, here are the reading levels that I am shooting for below.

As you can see, from the very first night it looks like my readings are bit higher than they should be. I find this super interesting!!!

I don't eat a high carb diet, and I minimize the processed foods that I intake. So why would my body being showing insulin resistance? Is it genetics? Is it my bodies mechanism of protecting me from something else I am not seeing? Is it a way of helping me perform better during the intense training sessions? IDFK lol.

Now this is only one night of data, so I have to take it with a grain of salt. Yet, I am stoked that I now have another tool to help me understand my own body better.

Here's how you can start to take complete ownership over your health, and life in general.

  1. Go get some blood panels taken. Checkout AnyLabTestNow or comparable places in your area. I recommend getting a Male/Female Metabloic/Comprehensive panel, as well as a Micronutrient test through Spectracell.com and if you live in the Austin area come by the MSW Lounge where we can do blood work for you.
  2. Based on your results, do your own research online and read books to help you understand more of what you are looking at.
  3. Book a consultation with a practitioner that can help you dig even further and understand even more. Go to HowDoYouHealth.com and book an online consult with my source of health knowledge Nurse Doza
  4. Adapt, adapt, and ADAPT some more!!! Health is about trying new things, stripping away what does not work for you, as well as keeping what does.

Great! Now apply this type of thinking to every other area of life.

  1. Find metrics and data that will help you understand more about your life.
  2. Research and read about the metrics to learn more.
  3. Hire consultants to help further optimize yourself.
  4. Adapt to the ever changing world that we live in.

Happy THRIVE THURSDAY!

p.s. I am grateful that I can take a blood test, do research on google, and within a few days have a potential solution shipped to my front door, then open up my phone and get the data I need LIVE every single day. Serisously we are so blessed to be living in this day and age. I wish more people would see the positives today than staying so focused on all the BS negatives.
