Your past DOES NOT define you.

Raise your hand if you have been through some shit in your life?
Also raise your hand if you are still moving forward and making progress in your life?
If you continue to make progress, you essentially validate the photo I posted above.
It is not a complex theory, yet it is one that you may tend to forget.
Example:
A new problem for you to solve may await you today. Will you become frustrated with it? Or will you acknowledge, "hmm this problem is not going to be fun, but it has a purpose. It will be my fuel to continue progressing myself and my life."
What type of person are you?
The frustrated one?
Or the one who can acknowledge the purpose of hardship and give it a meaning that fuels you?
If you are anything like me.
You used to be the frustrated one.
And today you focus on continuing to make strides to actively CHOOSE to add meaning to everything life has to offer you.
As Steve Jobs once said "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."
Regardless of what you think of Steve Jobs, he has a damn good point here.
When I look back on my life, every time that I chose purpose over frustration, my life became better.
And the beauty is, every day is a new day to instill this sense of purpose. No matter how difficult the problem ahead of you may seem.

To kick off a new week, I want you to think back on your life and acknowledge the times you did a good job of assigning purpose to your hardship. Also, think about the times you let frustration get the best of you. What were the outcomes of each circumstance when you can trace it back?
Today is a new day.
Today is a new week.
Today is a new opportunity for you to progress your life and fuel it with purpose. and meaning.

p.s. today I am grateful for a conversation I had with my wife this weekend. I have been feeling stuck with some of the ideas I have for THRIVEONLIFE and she helped unlock our next step. Having great people around you is the #1 thing I advise you to do in your life. And it starts with you striving to be a great person yourself!
