Spend your energy wisely.

Your misuse of your energy keeps you worried about the future and depressed about your past.
But spending your energy wisely will help you feel PRESENT and reduce your anxiety/depression.
I have been thinking a lot lately about energy. I am a huge science nerd, and I realize that at the end of the day, we are all just a bunch of atoms bunched together. Atoms that are in a constant state of spending/conversing energy.
Here's a fun fact you can tell your family & friends over the holiday ...
Suzanne Bell, an analytical chemist at West Virginia University, estimates that a 150-pound human body contains about 6.5 octillion (that's 6,500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) atoms. The vast majority of them are hydrogen (humans are almost entirely water, which comprises two hydrogen atoms and an oxygen).
You, me, we...just a bunch of balled up energy ready to be released at times, and other times needed to be conserved and restored.
Unfortunately, today we live in a world where you sit the whole day, stare at screens the whole day, and spend energy eating foods that have been purposely processed to make us addicted to them...all so that we order more of them and fill the pockets of people who couldn't care any less about us.
Aka our energy is not spent efficiently and certainly not how humans were intended to use their energy when we were first placed on this earth.
This is a side-bar topic though.
Back to the initial convo.
I have dialed into the fact that I become most anxious when I have a bunch of pent up energy.
And I become depressed when I think about my past and how I wasted or misused my time/energy.
Do you find it to be a similar case for you as well?
The reason I am bringing up this topic right now is because you may be re-evaluating how you spend your time as you go into 2021. You may also be spending time with family and friends this holiday season....which can be an energy gain or loss depending on how well you choose to spend it.
Here is what I found the solution to be for me.
You have this one moment in time right? The next 5 minutes where your atoms can be used however you choose to use them.
If you are conscious about this, and you use this time wisely, you will be in flow state and reduce your anxiety based on less worrying about the future. And because you reduce your worry, and you execute better in the now, in the future when you do think back to the now, (it'll be your "past" then) you will not be depressed because you will be happy about how you spent your time.
All in all, if you focus on spending your time wisely RIGHT NOW... you will reduce your anxiety and your depression moving forward.
***I need to state that all humans have some form of anxiety or depression. They are purposely built into us and both have functions. Without them, we wouldn't be able to survive. What I am speaking about above is how to manage them more wisely and not let them have a negative toll on our lives.
So what can you do in the next 5 minutes that will have a positive impact on the atoms you are consisted of? Then 5 minutes later ask yourself the same question. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
Go spend your next 5 minutes of energy wisely and crush your Friday!!!

p.s. today I am grateful that I get to spend the next 9 days "off" with my wife. I am very much looking forward to spending my time with her.
