Move your body, awaken your spirit.

Phew.
What a few weeks.
I finally find myself looking at my calendar and being able to breathe knowing I have a couple weeks with no races, no events, no guests to tend to... etc.
Don't get me wrong, I love the fast paced life.
Yet, I am a big believer in "sprinting" and then taking some time to recover.
So it is time to replenish myself.
And one of the ways that I have found does that the most...
Dancing.
I came to this conclusion this past weekend while attending my sister-in-laws wedding.
Congrats Mackenzie!
Even with everything going on in my life, something that I have found brings the most pure joy out of me, and everyone around me...
Dancing.
I got to let loose at the wedding.
And the week before that, I participated in an awesome dance fitness class at our HDYH Festival called KINRGY, as well as a silent disco from 1030PM - 12AM that same day.
My conclusion that dancing is great for the spirit isn't a new one for humanity.
This type of activity releases endorphins which provide an instant mood boost and make you feel good about yourself.
It also allows you to express yourself without having to use words or even think too hard about what you are doing – all you have to do is move your body however you want!
And in a world that has all of us sitting more and communicating / expressing ourselves less...
I believe dancing to be a vital part of reversing a lot of the internal angst many of us suffer from.
Again, this isn't just my belief.
It has been scientifically proven that there are numerous psychological benefits as well.
Movement helps you process emotions without having to verbalize them; you don’t even need to be aware of what those emotions are.
Additionally, learning new dance moves can help boost self-confidence and open up new opportunities for creative expression.
And last but not least, socializing through dance can help reduce stress and promote healthier relationships with others by providing a safe space for connection, trust-building, and shared joy.
^^^ WHICH WE ALL NEED MORE OF!!!
You have probably seen me write, or heard me say, "don't just talk about it, be about it."
I always do my best to BE ABOUT everything that I write/say.
So here is proof from two video screenshots of me front and center at both KINRGY and then silent disco.
Now it is your turn.
Find some time in the next couple weeks to grab some friends (or go solo!) and hit the dance floor.
Not only will you get some exercise in, but you'll also be able to release any pent up emotions by letting go and moving freely to the beat of your own drum (or your favorite artist).
I guarantee if you do this, you will end your year on a high note. PUN INTENDED. Lol puns are corny but I had to.

p.s. I am grateful I was able to spend time with many of Erin and I's family members over the past couple weeks.
