What is your BIG DOMINO?!

Happy Monday!!!

Yesterday I talked a bit about setting yourself up for a successful week.

But what should your focus be on in the first place to make sure that happens?!?

YOUR BIG DOMINO.

What do I mean by this?

Think of your life like a set of dominos that have been lined up.

Each individual domino, placed in a path of thousands of other dominos.

Most people go through life working their butts off knocking down one domino at a time.

This leaves them unfulfilled, fighting burnout, and wondering what is the point of all this in the first place.

Yet, what about those that find ways to knock multiple dominos over all at once? They have a much more enjoyable time!

Watching the whole set fall down is much more entertaining

than one at a time.

Bet you didn't think your week would start with domino talk lol.

Okay CJ, "how does this apply to my life though"...is probably what you are thinking.

YOUR TASK: Think about where you want to go in your life over the next 5 years. Where do you want to be? Who do you want to be with? Why do you want to be there?

Once you have thought of this, you have to ask yourself "HOW" do I get there?

This is the hardest part for most.

That is where the big domino theory comes in.

Analyze your list, and conclude what you can do that will help you achieve multiple things at a time.

EXAMPLE:

My big domino is always my health. If I don't feel well, I will not be able to live the life I want. So therefore, I prioritize my health as the first thing on my list.

Did I read that day? Did I meditate? Did I exercise? Did I eat nutrient dense food? If I focus on this domino, I know I will crush most of my tasks for that day.

The next big domino when I think of my goals is the fact that I want to be an author / a podcaster / a serial entrepreneur / and a father that gets to spend a lot of time with his wife & future kids.

So how do I make these things happen?

The big domino in all of that is

  1. Maintain a life of essentialism that focuses on time freedom rather than material items.
  2. Write as much as I can
  3. Record as much as I can
  4. Spend time with the best entrepreneurs digitally / physically as I can

This makes my day to day, week to week, and month to month rather easy to line up.

I literally just go into the week and work on the big dominos as much as I possibly can.

Every single day of the week has a bit of those big dominos involved, even the "weekends."

I don't just preach this though, I LIVE IT.

Here is a photo of Erin and I at Whole Foods Market at 850pm last night.

We got off the plane at 825pm, hustled to our car, drove 10 minutes to Whole Foods Market, split up in the store to go to different aisles, and this is us at the register at 850pm.

Our main priority last night, was to get our food for the week, that way we are fueled to tackle anything that comes our way.

HEALTH = WEALTH.

Even our home was a big domino choice. We chose to pay a higher price tag to be closer to the airport, the hike/bike trail, and healthy grocers, all because we know that the efficiency & flexibility we have on a daily basis, will ultimately help us consistently hit our bigger life goals over the long term. Last night was a direct example of this.

Enough of me though.

WHAT IS YOUR BIG DOMINO THIS WEEK?!?!?!?!

What can you focus on that will help you get a inch closer to living the life you dream of?!

I'd love to know your dominos. Maybe I can help or connect you with someone that can help you achieve some of them.

Pro-tip:

When listing out what you want from life, sometimes it is easier to list out WHAT YOU DON'T WANT first. Unfortunately, we remember the times we are in pain & discomfort, more than the times we aren't. So think of times where you didn't like your job, the people you were around, the place you were at, experiences you had, and revolve your dominos around the opposite of the times you don't want again.

Have a wonderful start to your week!

ps: today I am grateful that I get to speak with you every day. One of my goals is to become a published author, and the fact that in 2020 I get to sit from my kitchen counter, sip my lemon water, and do something I love because of the invention of the internet...I am very grateful.
