The Unlived Life

I am currently reading Steven Pressfield's "The War of Art: Break through blocks and win your creative battles."
Below is an excerpt from it that I think everyone needs to hear.
"Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.
Have you ever brought home a treadmill and let it gather dust in the attic? Ever quit a diet, a course of yoga, a meditation practice? Have you ever bailed out on a call to embark a spiritual practie, dedicate yourself to a humanitarian calling, commit your life to the service of others? Have you ever wanted to be a mother, a doctor, an advocate for the weak and helpless; to run for office, crusade for the planet, campaign for world peace, or to preserve the environment? Late at night have you experienced a vision of the person you might become, the work you could accomplish, the realized being you were meant to be? Are you a writer who doesn't write, painter who doesn't paint, an entrepreneur who never starts a venture? Then you know what Resistance is."
Why did I choose to share the above?
Because my brand, my being, my life calling...it has clearly established itself as the mission to help other people break the resistance within themselves.
Whether people like it or not (a lot of people actually get annoyed by me, rightfully so) I am the wasp in their ear. That buzzing sound that never seems to go away. The guy who is relentless about questioning them and making them wonder if they have more to give in this life that they "live."
And now I am doing it to YOU.
THRIVE ON LIFE was born because I needed it to save my own life. I needed something to help me break through my own Resistance. Fortunately for me, it worked.
And now my life's work revolves around helping you save yourself from never living your unlived life.
Let me ask you this question, it is the same question I asked my wife this morning...
If you were to write your own personal constitution, your own rulebook to live by and govern you, what would that look like?
When would you wake up? What work would you do? Who would you have to be to become the person that gets the work done? What value would you add to this planet? How would you serve yourself so that you can better serve those around you?
These questions can go on and on. What is important though, is YOU are the one coming up with the answers.
Not your job. Not your friends. Not your family. Not your spouse. Not their answers. Not their remarks. Not their thoughts and feelings.
YOU HAVE THE ANSWERS.
You just have to break past the resistance, sit down, and start asking yourself the right questions to respond to.
Then go LIVE THE ANSWERS OUT.
...................................
I hope this Monday message motivates you to go about this week in a different fashion than you did last week. Don't live the same day/week/month for 30+ years and call it a life. You deserve more than that!

p.s. today I am grateful that we can an extra hour of sunlight at night now. It means I get to go on more sunset walks/runs with my wife around the lake, something I am extremely fond of.
