Happy Hot Summer!

Can you believe this heat? Even up here at 3,500 feet, in the pine-forested wilderness of North-central Washington State, it's been sitting in the 90s. The valley dwellers below put up with triple digits. By God's grace, only a few fires have broken out so far, and they are being dealt with quite aggressively.

I like it hot, but not as hot as the "extreme heat" warning we experienced during the recent AFHE homeschooling convention in Phoenix, Arizona. Thankfully, the convention center was cool and refreshing. Lots of convention goers all over the place, and I got to meet so many fans.

It was too busy in the hall to take many photos of fans and author, but I did take a picture of my two giveaways: a Circle C Gift Basket and a Goldtown Gift Basket. I got the most Newsletter signups ever! And the two winners are very happy with their prizes. Stay tuned to this newsletter, as I hope to bring you a Back-to-School special giveaway later in August.

July What Am I: Cottage Cheese

I also accepted "feta cheese" and "cheese curds." What really surprised me was the number of "popcorn" guesses I received, especially after I gave everyone the BIG HINT: "It is NOT popcorn." Go figure. Anyway, I received 140 fun entries, of which 81 did guess correctly ("cauliflower" was a popular--but incorrect--guess). Jalaena "Grace" was our winner.
