Do Partners Make the Best Lovers?
Dec 15, 2025 1:16 pm
Lovely readers!
I've been thinking over the past week about what kind of stories I love writing most. And I've determined that, right now at least, it's stories where the hero and heroine become partners on some level. Sometimes it's reluctantly, sometimes it's with heaps of gratitude. But it always leads to moments that really sizzle for me, where the hero and heroine can share excitement as they work toward a common goal.
Daring Done Right.
Forgery, Love, and Other Lies.
Book 2 of my Alchemy of Desire series
Book 1 of the series after that (yes, I've already started writing it!)
Teach a Rogue New Tricks
Dukes Court for Keeps
All of these let the characters celebrate highs and mourn losses with one another. And that builds connections between them, a shared past that's hard to let go when things get rough in that final third of the book (as they must do).
I think this is also what I loved about The Artful Dodger show on Hulu. The main characters work together, and that first kiss, THAT FIRST KISS! It comes naturally on the high of success, and it is SUCH a beautiful buzz.
What's your favorite thing about partnerships, reluctant or otherwise?

One Last Note!
How about a little peek at book 2 of the Alchemy of Desire series. Because that's what I'm writing right now. Well, revising and getting ready to send to beta readers for feedback!
The title is....
Charming the Rogue
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've tried to mix historical romance phrases we know and love with words that have magical denotations or connotations like "binding" and "charming."
As for Binding the Baron, early reviews are pretty unanimous. I've seen it called "Spicy Bridgerton with magic" way more times than I ever expected. I'LL TAKE IT. Frankly, I don't know why I didn't expect it. I should have. 🤣 Temple and Diana are quite spicy, especially once they get their alchemist binding rings...
This book will be available at all online retailers through December 21! At that point, it will go into Kindle Unlimited.
Happy reading,
Charlie Lane
