Do You Like to Dress Up?

Hello, dear readers!
October is a busy month! Not only am I figuring out kids costumes for Halloween, but I'm celebrating the release of the Christmas anthology Christmas Belles as well as the release of book 1 in the Lords and Ladies of St. James multi-author anthology series! Lords and Lace releases in 2 days! It includes some amazing authors and each story will feature, you guessed it, a lord and lace. Ooo la la! I'll chime in next week with an exclusive email about that release, so you have all the details!
In just four days the Christmas Belles releases, the yearly holiday anthology published by Wolf! I've got a novella included as does Bree Wolf, Tracy Sumner, Collette Cameron, Rebecca Paula, Shannon Gilmore, Meredith Bond, and Jennifer Monroe. The anthology will be offered for $4.99 in the Wolf store ONLY during pre-order and can be pre-ordered for $7.99 at other retailers such as Amazon, Kobo, and Barnes and Noble. Wolf is offering a 20% off promo code for ordering in their store. Use the code SUPPORT during checkout, exclusively in the Wolf store.
Additionally, we've got a party planned in the Wolf reader group on Facebook for October 19 from 10 am to 6 pm Eastern. You can join the group here and drop by on the day for fun, games, and giveaways!
Unfortunately, this anthology will not be offered in Kindle Unlimited (KU), at least not right now. I know that's a bummer for my KU readers. So I thought I'd share with you a few reasons authors are moving some books out of KU here and there.
Here's the scoop: to be in KU, you must be exclusive to Amazon. You are not allowed to put your books anywhere else. This means that if books are pirated and put up on websites without an author's consent, Amazon gets quite angry. And they don't go after the book pirates; they shut down the author. This has happened more times than I can count to amazing authors I know since I started publishing three years ago, and one of the best solutions there is to avoiding having your entire business shut down is to simply not be in KU.
With all that being said, I love KU as a reader. I binge like crazy and KU as well as my Library app Libby, help me to afford all that reading. I'm also checking out Kobo's new subscription service as a reader. It's similar to KU and I didn't have to buy a new e-reader, just downloaded the app onto my phone. It has a small but growing offering of historical romance and the books enrolled don't have to be exclusive to their program. I'll have to let you guys know how I like it!
Moving forward, all of my own books will a mix of KU and not KU. Meaning some will be in and some will be out, and these may change or rotate as time goes by. And anytime any of my books are going to be pulled out of KU or put into KU, I will give you guys the heads up! Additionally, Wolf has suggested they may rotate books in and out of KU as well so that all readers have the opportunity to enjoy their authors' stories! We're all just hoping to find a safer way of doing business as well as one that gets books into ALL readers' hands. It just won't be at the same time. So sorry! 🙁
The only book of mine that will be coming OUT of KU this year is A Very Daring Christmas, a Debutante Dares novella. It will be in KU until November 29, so if you've not read it yet or fancy a re-read, now's the time! Everything else--London Secrets, Cavendish Family, Art of Love, and the main Debutante Dares novels--are still in KU!
WHEW. That was a dissertation. I'll make my next epistles must less loquacious! If you have worries or fears about these changes, I hear you, and I'm happy to answer any questions you have.
Take a look at a new book!
How about some book promotions? Here are a few with a ton of great books. See if there are any that catch your eye!
Happy reading!
Charlie Lane
