To All the Rogues I've Hated Writing Before

Hello lovely readers!

Here's a truth I've recently learned about myself: I was not made to write a rogue. 😆 I love to read them, swoon over them, etc. But as a writer, I much prefer those cinnamon roll softies who fall hard, fall fast, and hope to snap the heroine up with their humor and kindness.

This means, as I revised Teach a Rogue New Tricks last week in order to send it to my editor, I had many conversations with a very frustrated hero that went something like this:

Me: do something adorable and sweet.

Him: Me? I don't DO adorable and sweet.

Me: What? *blinking* Of course you do. Come on, then.

Him: You remember that one time I kidnapped your heroine?

Me: But that was *counts on fingers* something like 5 books ago! C'mon! Be adorable.

Him: No. I'm a plain, dealing villain.

Me: Isn't that line from Much Ado About Nothing? Oh yeah! Keanu Reeves says it.

Him: Keanu Who? *shakes head* Never mind that nonsense. I'm angsty and moody and I stomp about and warn women away.

Me: Oooooh. Warn them away? That must mean you don't want to hurt them. Aw. That's kinda cute. *pinches his cheeks* Look at you, you adorable little scamp.

Him: *swatting my hands away from his face* Stop it, woman! And get to work making me a mean alpha whatever it is you writers say.

Me: Alphahole, you mean? Hm. No. Don't think I will. *plunks secret good intentions in his heart*

Him: Wait! No!

Me: *stirs up good intentions with love of family*

Him: stop that now!

Me: *wraps him up nicely with a wry sense of humor and delightfully foul mouth*

Him: Sigh. I guess this is me now. Damned authoress.

The above is a completely true reenactment.
