It has been so incredibly lovely to revisit Henry and Sarah while working on this audiobook. They way they need each other, the way they are capable of so much love--I love them!

And this audiobook has just been perfectly timed for me because I've started writing the Cavendish continuation series--The Cavendish Spinster Academy. The younger Cavendish children--Pansy, James, the twins--now they get their HEAs, and Henry and Sarah get to watch them make a muddle of it. Like parents, like children. 😂

AND it's appropriate because book 1 of the new Cavendish series is so much about folklore, about oral storytelling and those scholars who first wrote it all down. Audiobooks... oral storytelling... !!! Perfection.

First up is James who prefers to be called Pen these days. He's Sarah's son from her first marriage, and he's followed in his stepfather's footsteps to become a scholar. Of course every hero in this series is in need of a spinster in some way, so it's been grand fun figuring out what each hero thinks he needs the spinster for and then watching as he realizes that wait... he actually needed the spinster for other things... Like love. 🥰

Pen is a scholar of folklore, a term that hadn't been coined yet in the year this book is set--1838. So I don't ever actually call him that. One phrase I read in a letter written by a friend of the Grimm Brothers was "ancient poets" and another was popular folk literature. But whatever phrase Pen would have used, what he needs is much simpler-- a scholarly spinster to help him write a book. He gets more than he bargained for of course. It's got all the rivals to lovers, road trip romance feels you could possibly ask for right now (about half way through draft 1) and I adore Pen and his spinster, Emilia.

Anyway, that was quite the digression. 😂

Let me focus. AHEM!
