In case you hadn’t heard, there was an eclipse today that was visible from parts of about 15 states here in the US. I don’t live in the area where it got completely dark, but I was able to experience about 99% totality right from my back yard. Even though I can’t see, I could tell it felt like a lovely cool evening just at the time when it would normally be the hottest part of the day. I kept thinking the birds might get quiet, but nope. They just kept right on chattering away. LOL!

What actually impressed me most about the eclipse had nothing to do with what was going on in the sky. It was the way this event brought people together. 

So many people I spoke with from all over the country were planning on watching. My daughter told me she could see people all stepping out of their places of business downtown to peer up at the sky together. my son even said that a group of his coworkers who normally don’t really have much to do with each other made a point to step outside and were sharing eclipse glasses amongst themselves.

All of us as human beings are in this thing called life together, and we are not so different as some might believe. The next time you find yourself under a dark cloud of judgement about yourself or others, you think you are the only one going through something, or you feel like no one else could possibly understand you, I hope you might remember that no matter what darkness we are experiencing right now, there is a brilliance hiding just out of sight. When it starts to emerge, we might just discover that we’re really not alone and that we’re all looking up in wonder together. 🌞
