Create connections and strengthen your coaching

Hi ,

“You know you’re living the remote life when you’re dressed business on top and pajamas on the bottom..” ~ anonymous

Thanks to the internet and virtual meeting rooms, we have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our coaching clients all over the world—all without ever leaving our home or office.

As someone who can’t see to drive a car for a daily commute, I am incredibly grateful for this. Yet, it is definitely a two-sided coin.

Coaching can be a very isolating profession, especially for those who only coach virtually. We can talk with people all day and yet still feel lonely at the end of the day. After all, it is our responsibility to serve our clients and not be seeking to get our own needs for socialization met through our coaching conversations.

But coaches are human too, and we do need socialization to keep us grounded and healthy. So, what’s a busy coach to do? Here are a few ideas you might like to consider.

1. Join us in Coaches in CAHOOTS. 😄 I suppose this is a shameless plug, but I really am pleased with what we are offering for our members. The doors are still open through this Tuesday if you’d like to visit and check us out. Find out more at www.coachesincahoots.com. You can also watch a video my co-conspirator, Emily, created about the new community hub here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDlX9H3vRkM.

2. Find a sport or hobby you enjoy that involves other people: fishing with a fellow angler, having coffee with your friends once a week, walking with your neighbors in the morning, etc. Whether it’s virtual or in the real world, the key is to find something fun to do with others.

3. Join your local ICF chapter or some other local business networking group. Groups like BNI (Business Network International) or the local Chamber of Commerce might be just your cup of tea. There are also virtual network meeting options through platforms like www.alignable.com if that fits better in your schedule.

4. Did you know the ICF now has online communities where you can have discussions with fellow ICF members? These communities are pretty new. Check them out at https://engage.coachingfederation.org/home.

5. If you are part of a typically underserved community, you might be interested in joining one of the ICF Member Resource Groups. You can find out more at https://coachingfederation.org/blog/member-resource-groups-a-new-opportunity-to-foster-deib.

I hope some of these might spark an idea for you and lead to a new connection or two.

If you are interested in hanging out with us in CAHOOTS this Tuesday at 12 PM Eastern, just reply and let me know. I’ll be happy to send you the meeting info.

Have a fabulous week ahead. 🥰
