Bad news, and Good news

Bad news, and Good news

First, the bad news.

My co-editor on Occult Detective Magazine, John Linwood Grant has been in the wars of late. This resulted in his spending 6 hours in casualty on his birthday, then a 3 week stay in hospital to have a serious operation to drain four litres of blood from his lung, and several return visits to check up on things, remove stitches etc. He is now home, and recovering, but it's going to take a while. He insists he's going to be easing back into work soon, out of boredom, if nothing else, but he can't overdo it.

The upshot of this is that Occult Detective Magazine #11 is going to be late.

In the meantime, I will be working on a couple of other projects, including the reprint of Chico Kidd, and Rob Kennett's collection of Carnacki tales, which was the first book of Carnacki pastiches to ever be published.

The good news is that Occult Detective Magazine has been nominated in the Best Magazine/Periodical category for the British Fantasy Awards! Considering the quality of the competition, I have my doubts that we'll actually win, but it's certainly nice to get some recognition.

We'll be at a few UK events this year. Firstly, we'll be at the Innsmouth Literary Festival, in Bedford on Saturday September 28th of September. We were at the first one last year, and it was great fun.

Then we'll be at Fantasycon, in Chester on 11th to the 13th of October. For those who can't manage the entire weekend, single day tickets are on sale.

Finally for this year, we'll be at Novacon in Buxton on 8th to the 10th of November.

That's all for now. I'll be back with more news when there's some to share.
