Author of speculative fiction.
Hello, , and welcome to another installment of my newsletter.
Let's dig in!
What I've been up to
- Up to my ears into drafting a new novel. Over ten thousand words already written.
- Also, putting last touches on an older novella, which task has been dragging because my brain is mostly on the new novel.
Latest blog post
Looking ahead to what 2025 might bring.
Last month, I recapped the best and worst of 2024. Now I’m moving on to what I hope 2025 will bring. Dare I hope for a completed first draft of a novel? Dare I hope for a submission-ready manuscript of my long-worked-on epic fantasy novel?
These are big goals. On the other hand, aiming for comfortable milestones feels like settling for too little. Perhaps, I’ll marry the wishful with the possible and promise to forgive myself at the end of the year if I haven’t achieved all I planned.
That’s a trap I don’t wish to fall into again.
Today's excerpt
A very short excerpt as a quote.
(Say if from unpublished novel, novella etc.)
Today's picture
It's dusk. It's cold. And the fire is dying. But we can still recall it's warmth.
Books and music
- Reading: Starless by Jacqueline Carrey. It’s very different from the first Kushiel’s Legacy trilogy (I haven’t read the second one yet), with a more straightforward structure, language, and plot. Nevertheless, an absolutely enjoyable read.
- Music: Bukahara. A German band with international roots. Good to listen to for positive vibes.
Something learned
Perfectionism can come in many guises, including sticking to a “perfect” but taxing plan.
Until next time!
